Occasionally, a TV comes along that truly impresses, and that was certainly the case last August when we evaluated Sony’s highly anticipated Bravia 9 mini-LED TV.
The Sony Bravia 9 is a stunning TV that performs exceptionally well in bright environments, thanks to Sony’s advanced IC processing chip, which Digital Trends’ editor-at-large praised for delivering some of the most precise colors, contrast, and brightness levels seen on a mini-LED. This ensures that the TV is perfect for all your film and TV consumption. Moreover, the Bravia 9 supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR formats, providing excellent contrast.
With two of its four HDMI ports equipped as HDMI 2.1 to support 4K/120Hz and variable refresh rate, the Bravia 9 excels in fast-paced action films and will delight gamers. The other two HDMI ports support 4K/60Hz, and all four support ALLM (auto low latency mode), which automatically adjusts picture quality modes based on the source input.
As noted by Denison in his review, the Bravia 9 could improve off-angle viewing, but this is unlikely to deter many unless that’s a specific concern for you. Additionally, the Bravia 9 comes with a powerful 70-watt, 2.2.2 audio system built-in, meaning a soundbar or extra speakers may not be necessary.

The Hisense 55U7SG is the standout mini-LED TV for 2026. It utilizes Hisense’s Hi-QLED mini-LED Pro backlighting, with up to 3,000 local dimming zones and peak brightness reaching 3,000 nits, offering the kind of contrast and detail expected in much pricier models. Its Pantone-validated Hi-QLED panels ensure more accurate skin tones and colors than many budget QLEDs typically provide.
In terms of gaming and motion, this TV excels by running a native refresh rate of 165Hz, with Motion Rate 660 and AI Smooth Motion working together to maintain clarity during fast scenes. Game Booster 330 and VRR keep input lag low for serious gamers. The Hi-View AI Engine Pro processor adjusts color and contrast scene by scene, while sound comes from a 2.1.2 channel system tuned by Devialet, an uncommon feature for this price range.
What sets this TV apart is its anti-reflection screen, a dual-layer treatment typically seen in more expensive models, making it manageable for viewing in bright rooms without having to lower every shade. Reviewers highlight the anti-glare feature and peak brightness
