      Claude in Chrome has now integrated with Cowork for seamless sessions across devices.

      Anthropic has enhanced its Claude browser extension, allowing it to remember conversations on desktop, web, or mobile. The Claude in Chrome side panel functions as a complete Claude Cowork session, meaning your discussions, skills, and connectors transition smoothly between the browser and Claude’s desktop, web, and mobile applications. Prior to this update, browser sessions were completely independent from other platforms, resulting in starting anew when switching devices.

      How Claude in Chrome now operates

      Claude in Chrome can access any webpage you are viewing and perform actions within it, such as clicking links, typing text, filling forms, and navigating between pages while using your existing logins. This capability is beneficial for tools that do not connect directly to Claude, like internal dashboards, legacy systems, or vendor portals.

      For instance, if you need to create a budget spreadsheet using invoices from various vendor sites, Claude can open each tab, extract amounts and dates, and begin building the spreadsheet for you. Since the sessions are now tied to your account rather than a single device, you can resume that task later on the desktop app, incorporate local files, or compare it to last month’s figures.

      Anthropic is also broadening Claude's web interaction, including a separate in-app browser for Claude Code, which allows it to read documentation without leaving the coding environment.

      Addressing browser automation safety risks

      Allowing an AI agent to operate within your browser entails significant risks, particularly with prompt injection, where hidden instructions on a webpage or document can mislead AI agents without your awareness. This concern is real, as recent security research has continually uncovered serious flaws in various AI browsing tools.

      To counter this, Anthropic has implemented a new verification process that reviews any significant action, such as submitting a form or sending a message, against your original request prior to execution. Nevertheless, Claude will still request your permission before taking actions like making purchases or sharing personal information.

      This update is currently available for Max and Team plans, with Pro access set to roll out in the coming weeks. Enterprise administrators can selectively enable it by domain.
