This lightweight device from Asus transforms any standard bike into an e-bike in just a few minutes. The new Asus Oxiis E250G1 attaches to your seatpost and uses a small motorized roller that presses against your rear tire, providing electric assistance to nearly any bike you already own.
**How the Asus Oxiis E250G1 Functions**
The device employs a friction drive system, where a compact motor unit presses against the rear tire to spin it faster when you require additional power. An anti-slip mechanism ensures that the roller maintains a firm grip on the tire, even on uneven surfaces, allowing for smooth power transfer without slipping under load.
Asus refers to this as its Adaptive Boost Technology, which detects inclines and automatically adds power on hills or against headwinds without manual mode switching. Riders still have the option to select between Eco, Normal, and Sport modes using a button on the device or the accompanying smartphone app, which is available for both iOS and Android.
Additionally, a wireless cadence sensor is integrated into the pedals, eliminating the need for extra cables and simplifying installation. However, the Oxiis E250G1 is not suitable for full suspension mountain bikes or carbon fiber seatposts, meaning it won’t work with every bike.
**What Makes It Convenient for Daily Cyclists?**
Weighing approximately 8.15 pounds, the Oxiis is light enough to easily pack into a backpack once you're done riding. Its removable battery fully charges in around two hours with a 100W USB-C PD charger and provides up to 31 miles of range in Eco mode.
The device has an IPX4 water resistance rating and features a built-in tail light that uses brake detection to automatically signal to riders behind when you are slowing down. The Oxiis accommodates a wide variety of wheel sizes, from 16 inches up to 700C, making it compatible with everything from folding bikes to hardtail mountain bikes.
Asus first presented this e-bike device at the Taipei International Cycle Show earlier this year and again at Eurobike, with wider availability anticipated in 2026, although Asus has not yet disclosed pricing.
