      I’ve been using the Google Pixel 10 Pro for nearly a year, which has given me ample opportunity to identify what I appreciate about it and, more importantly, what still frustrates me. With the Pixel 11 Pro scheduled to launch on August 12, just three days away, my wishlist for Google has significantly grown. The Pixel already excels in several areas. The software remains one of my favorite Android experiences, its performance is generally good, and Google’s Gemini features have proven genuinely beneficial in unexpected ways. These are substantial reasons I’ve remained loyal to Pixel phones.

      However, after spending enough time with any device, minor annoyances can become quite significant. Over the past year, I’ve encountered several recurring issues with the Pixel that I hope won’t persist into the next generation. My issue is straightforward: I can’t rely on the phone to last through an entire day without worry. This uncertainty is exactly why I rarely take my Pixel 10 Pro out on its own. On days when I know I’ll be away from a charger for extended periods, I bring my iPhone along merely as a backup in case the Pixel conks out before I do.

      You’d think plugging it in would quickly resolve this, but charging brings its own set of headaches. It feels excruciatingly slow, and in 2026, I really don’t understand why I should wait nearly two hours for a flagship phone to charge completely. To make matters worse, it often heats up during charging, turning a daily necessity into an experience I’d prefer to avoid altogether. This is exactly what I want Google to improve with the Pixel 11 Pro: a battery that reliably lasts through the day and faster charging. This doesn’t feel like an unreasonable request, especially when Samsung has finally adopted silicon-carbon battery technology in its latest devices. The industry is progressing, and I really hope Google keeps pace. For the Pixel 11 Pro, better battery life and charging are non-negotiable.

      Another annoying issue with the Pixel 10 Pro is the display randomly deciding not to respond. This isn’t just an occasional problem; on a bad day, it can occur 10 to 15 times. What puzzles me is that I’m not really pushing the phone hard. I’m not gaming for hours, editing videos, or filming 4K content in bright sunlight. My daily activities are usually pretty standard, like scrolling through social media, switching between work apps, browsing Reddit, replying to messages, and engaging in other typical tasks you'd expect a flagship phone to handle.

      Yet, now and then, the screen just stops responding. I’ll touch something, and nothing happens; I’ll swipe again, and still get no response. The only workaround I’ve stumbled upon is opening the recent apps menu, clearing everything out, and effectively giving the phone a reset. Doing this once is fine, but having to repeat it over ten times in a day quickly becomes tedious. It interrupts whatever I’m doing and makes an otherwise smooth phone feel strangely unreliable. This is exactly the type of daily frustration I want to avoid with the Pixel 11 Pro. I don’t need Google to reinvent the display—I just want it to respond every time I tap it. That shouldn’t be too much to ask from a premium device.

      Then there are the network issues. This may be one of the most infuriating problems I’ve faced with the Pixel because there’s no straightforward workaround. Whenever I’m on a regular phone call or even a WhatsApp call, I find myself searching for that one ideal spot where the signal decides to cooperate. I move from one side of the room to the other, stand closer to the window, switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data, all in hopes something will work. I often find myself repeating, “Can you hear me now?” just five minutes into a call. Since making phone calls is one of the most fundamental functions a smartphone should perform, this is incredibly frustrating. I’ve spent a significant amount of time exploring the Pixel’s network settings, trying different adjustments to see if anything helps. Nothing has made a substantial difference.
