New premium Apple Watch models might be introduced above the current Ultra and Hermès lines.
Apple already offers several high-priced smartwatches but is reportedly planning to exceed those prices. As per Bloomberg’s latest Power On newsletter, the company is contemplating new premium models of the Apple Watch that would be positioned above the existing Ultra and Hermès options.
This could drive the price up significantly. Currently, the most expensive model available is the Apple Watch Hermès Ultra 3, priced at $1,399. The standard Apple Watch Ultra 3 begins at $799, even without the Hermès branding.
What could a more premium Apple Watch entail?
At this point, that remains uncertain. Apple could take inspiration from Hermès by using more costly materials, unique finishes, or bands while retaining familiar hardware. A more intriguing prospect could be an entirely new tier beyond the Ultra, featuring additional capabilities or health sensors exclusive to Apple’s priciest watches.
Previous reports have indicated that the 2026 Apple Watch range might include enhanced biosensing technology, improved energy efficiency, and a revamped high-end model. A new feature related to blood pressure is reportedly under FDA review; however, there’s no confirmation that these enhancements would be limited to a premium version. The upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 4 might also experience a price increase over the current $799 model due to rising component costs.
Apple is exploring options beyond the present Watch offerings.
These premium models represent just one aspect of a comprehensive rethink. Apple is also considering launching screen-free fitness wearables, lower-cost options below the Watch SE, and various display sizes and shapes. A round Apple Watch design has been contemplated, although Bloomberg suggests that it is unlikely to materialize.
The anticipated Series 12 and Ultra 4 are expected to maintain a familiar look while delivering a long-awaited performance upgrade, along with new health and fitness features, colors, bands, and potentially the return of a ceramic case.
Apple has not finalized what the redesigned Watch family will ultimately consist of, and no timeline has been provided for the release of these premium models.

Apple may finally reintroduce the ceramic Apple Watch, which I have eagerly awaited.
The most visually appealing Apple Watch material is reportedly making its return. Apple discreetly discontinued the ceramic Apple Watch in 2020, leaving fans of this luxurious material puzzled by its absence. For those who may not know, ceramic was the premium material option in the lineup. It was smooth to the touch, resistant to scratches, and provided a distinct non-metallic look, unlike titanium and aluminum frames. Now, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple is actively planning to bring it back.
Apple is reportedly also developing a third-generation model for 2027.
Apple seems to be preparing for the biggest redesign of the Apple Watch in years, but the company appears to be looking further ahead than just this year's model. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is considering a significant overhaul of the smartwatch lineup, with plans extending into 2027 or possibly 2028. The report indicates that Apple is moving beyond the minor upgrades that have characterized the Watch in recent years. Gurman states that the company is exploring various screen sizes, display types, and even models without screens as it reassesses what an Apple Watch should be.
Apple is contemplating a round display as it plans to refresh its smartwatches.
Since the inception of its smartwatches, Apple has adhered to a rectangular screen design. Meanwhile, brands using Google's Wear OS (formerly Android Wear) have experimented with both circular and rectangular screens. It seems Apple is ready for a design transformation and could eventually offer a round display for its signature smartwatch. According to Bloomberg, the company is considering a complete reset of its wearable device strategy, and one idea being discussed internally is a round display for smartwatches. The company is also looking into developing devices without displays, as well as exploring various screen types and sizes. Although unlikely to be released, the concept of round screens has at least been on the table.
