Google Maps is becoming alarmingly effective at organizing your day.
Google Maps has spent nearly twenty years assisting users in navigating from point A to point B. However, Google's latest update suggests that merely providing directions is no longer sufficient. The company aims for Maps to aid in daily planning, decision-making, and even handle some of the tedious tasks that follow once you locate what you're searching for.
Today, Google revealed a significant enhancement to Ask Maps, its AI-driven search feature within Google Maps. This feature is receiving a suite of interactive tools that can assist in ordering meals, finding hotels, and uncovering local events with tickets available for purchase. Concurrently, Google is introducing Personal Intelligence, which allows Ask Maps to customize recommendations based on information from Gmail and Google Calendar, assuming users opt to link those services.
Maps is starting to handle tasks for you.
Locating a restaurant in Google Maps has always been straightforward. However, the challenge often arises when deciding what to eat, verifying whether the chosen place offers your desired dish, and placing the order. Google is attempting to streamline these additional steps.

Instead of searching through restaurants individually, you can now express your cravings in everyday language. Ask Maps can identify nearby options that match your request, and once you select a restaurant, it can easily relay your order through supported services like Uber Eats, Toast, and Square. The AI can even pre-fill your cart before you finalize payment on the partner platform. This conversational approach also applies to travel arrangements. Rather than sifting through hotel listings and manually applying filters, you can describe your ideal stay — whether you're looking for an affordable hotel near restaurants, a conference venue, or a nearby gym. Ask Maps then evaluates availability and pricing before presenting booking options via participating travel partners.
Your calendar will soon influence your recommendations.
The more intriguing addition may be Personal Intelligence, which provides Ask Maps with additional context regarding your objectives. With your permission, this feature can access details from Gmail and Google Calendar to offer recommendations that align with your plans. If you have a conference on your schedule or travel arrangements in your email, Ask Maps can utilize that information to suggest relevant hotels, eliminating the need for you to specify every detail yourself.

Google is also expanding this experience to entertainment. Users can inquire about nearby comedy shows, concerts, or other live events happening that evening, and Ask Maps will provide options along with links for ticket purchases. These new features are being rolled out to users in the US, reflecting a broader evolution in how Google envisions Maps functioning within everyday life.

New players are disrupting the memory industry, and even Apple can’t circumvent the RAM crisis affecting your budget.
Apple’s unsuccessful attempt to push for cheaper CXMT memory highlights the severity of the RAM crisis.
Apple typically compels suppliers to comply with its demands due to its ability to purchase components in quantities that few consumer technology brands can match, supported by a supply chain that rivals spend decades attempting to replicate. However, that leverage has encountered a memory manufacturer willing to refuse their requests.
Reports indicate that Apple approached China's CXMT as a potential additional DRAM supplier and requested lower prices. Instead, CXMT quoted prices that are similar to or even higher than those of Samsung and SK Hynix. Other Chinese manufacturers, such as Huawei and Xiaomi, have already secured much of CXMT's output through higher-priced long-term contracts, leaving the company with little incentive to accept Apple's terms.

Google is integrating pocket money into Wallet, allowing parents to control every transaction.
Kids can finally spend through Google Wallet without needing to borrow your credit card.
Giving a child their first taste of financial independence typically revolves around cash or a credit/debit card. However, Google aims to simplify this process with a digital solution. Google Wallet is launching a new payment option that includes a parental override feature.
Parents in the US can now create a specific Wallet balance for supervised children and teenagers under 18. Funds added to this balance can be used on an eligible Android phone or Wear OS smartwatch at any location accepting contactless Visa payments, without needing the child to possess a traditional bank account.

WhatsApp is making it simpler for channel admins to label AI-generated posts.
Because not every photo in your favorite channel is as genuine as it appears.
WhatsApp currently allows channel admins to identify sponsored posts with a paid partnership label, a feature that began rolling out last month on Android and iOS. Now the app is developing a similar feature specifically for AI-generated media. This initiative aims to keep followers informed when a photo or video was produced by an AI tool rather than captured by a camera.
