Minecraft is making its way to Switch 2, and even the Creepers are becoming more visually appealing.

Nintendo's Switch 2 is set to receive one of the most significant video games ever.

Minecraft has demonstrated over the years that blocks can operate on nearly any screen-enabled device. On October 27, it will finally debut on a platform built specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. Mojang has announced that the native Switch 2 version of Minecraft will launch with Vibrant Visuals activated by default, utilizing the enhanced power of the new console to enhance its well-known square Overworld. Current Nintendo Switch users will also have a digital upgrade option, though Mojang indicates that pricing and other details will be revealed later.

Vibrant Visuals offers Minecraft improved directional lighting, enhanced shadows, and various graphical upgrades that enrich the visual experience while maintaining the game's classic block-based aesthetic. This feature first appeared on supported Bedrock Edition platforms in 2025 and marks Minecraft’s most significant official visual upgrade to date.

Nintendo’s exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up pack will also be updated in the same way. The Mario-themed skins, music, and world, which includes locations like Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza, will be enhanced to utilize the new graphical mode. However, there are a few things to consider before this release. Vibrant Visuals will not be available during split-screen multiplayer and may be disabled in certain Marketplace worlds and other content.

The Joy-Con mouse issue remains unresolved

      Mojang

Mojang has not yet confirmed if Minecraft will support the Joy-Con 2 controllers’ mouse mode. This feature would be useful for a game centered around the precise placement and removal of blocks, especially when constructing intricate structures.

The studio has also kept several details under wraps, such as resolution and frame-rate targets. Existing Switch cartridges are compatible with Switch 2 through backward compatibility, so the native version will mainly attract players who seek enhanced visuals and optimizations tailored for the new hardware. With October 27 approaching, Mojang has a few more months to address these questions. In the meantime, Switch 2 owners can begin preparing their most visually appealing square homes for improved lighting.

The next Xbox may be backward compatible with every previous Xbox generation, if publishers agree.

An internal memo has leaked, suggesting that the next Xbox console, codenamed Project Helix, could be capable of playing games from every generation the company has ever launched. If true, this would result in the largest game library on any console, particularly as it is also rumored to support PC games.
