Xbox is marking its 25th anniversary by adorning your console with a touch of nostalgia.
Xbox is approaching its 25th anniversary, marking years of oversized controllers, achievement chasing, and nights dedicated to Halo. In celebration of this milestone, Microsoft is allowing players to unwrap some birthday gifts early. The company has released a complimentary collection of gamerpics, profile backgrounds, themes, and a dynamic Xbox console background designed by community artists Klobrille and Ben Kenobi.
This artwork is currently available ahead of the original Xbox's 25th anniversary on November 15. Microsoft is also awarding players a special 25th anniversary profile badge. To claim this, simply log into your Xbox account via a console, PC, or the Xbox mobile app before the end of 2026.
Your Xbox can celebrate in style
Console owners can access the new gamerpics and themes by navigating to Settings > Profile > Customize profile. The dynamic background can be found under Settings > General > Personalization > My background > Dynamic background. PC users can change their gamerpic by accessing their profile in the Xbox app and clicking the pencil icon.
The corresponding profile theme is available in the Customize Profile menu. Additionally, Microsoft invites players to share their own anniversary artwork on X using the #XBOX25 hashtag, with selected pieces potentially included in the official collection.

Microsoft has also introduced anniversary collections within Xbox Game Pass, showcasing games from all Xbox generations. The initial lineup includes Fable Anniversary, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4, Psychonauts 2, and Grounded. These curated selections are part of the existing Game Pass library and are not new downloadable copies for players to keep permanently.
The anniversary festivities will also feature an international FanFest tour hitting cities such as Cologne, Tokyo, London, Mexico City, Sydney, Toronto, and finally Seattle. Tickets for each event will be available through city-specific sweepstakes.
Moreover, Microsoft will release a translucent green Xbox Series X25 and a matching controller this November. These nostalgic hardware pieces will come with a price tag, making the free dynamic background and profile updates a more accessible way to celebrate.
