US subscribers on the $20 Pro plan can now access the AI agent, with a broader rollout anticipated shortly.

Google AI Pro subscribers in the US are finally receiving one of the standout features that Google introduced at I/O this past May. Gemini Spark is being made available to these users, as announced in a recent post from the official Google Gemini account on X, with an expansion to other countries expected soon.

Gemini Spark manages tasks while you’re not using it

Unlike the standard Gemini chatbot that simply answers questions, Spark is capable of completing tasks for you. You can assign it responsibilities, such as managing your inbox or updating your calendar, and it will function in the background even if you exit the app. Spark can also monitor specific events, like a flight delay, and respond automatically.

Gemini Spark is now beginning its rollout to Google AI Pro subscribers in the U.S., and it will soon be available to Pro subscribers in other countries.       After introducing Gemini Spark at I/O, Google made it accessible to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US later in May, and subsequently expanded its availability to macOS in June. Earlier this month, Spark became accessible to Ultra subscribers in additional regions and gained support for more languages. This week’s rollout to the Pro tier marks the first instance of Spark being available to subscribers beyond the Ultra tier, with Google expected to extend its reach to additional regions soon.

Regions where Gemini Spark is not yet available

Despite this expansion, Spark is still not accessible in all locations. If you reside in the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, or the UK, you currently do not have access, regardless of your Google AI plan. Google has not provided any information on when, or if, this will change.

The inclusion of Spark in the Pro tier indicates Google’s commitment to making agentic AI more widely available, beyond just its highest-paying subscribers. If you are on the Pro plan in the US, give Spark a try to see if it lives up to the expectations. Users outside the US may need to wait a few weeks for a broader rollout.

Centrica, the parent company of British Gas, is eliminating 1,300 call center positions, with the CEO attributing the cuts to shifting customer preferences. The company intends to eliminate 800 jobs as part of a “targeted deployment of AI tools,” in addition to the 500 positions previously announced. Customer service roles in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Leicester, Stockport, and Leeds are expected to be impacted over the next two years. Some roles will be eliminated when employees leave without replacements, while the remaining reductions will involve layoffs. Trade unions have cautioned that Centrica’s investment in AI could lead to hundreds of jobs being replaced by chatbots.

Intel has expedited its timeline for the next-generation 14A (1.4-nanometer) production process, which provides a significant new target for its foundry. During Intel’s Q2 2026 earnings call, CEO Lip-Bu Tan announced that risk production for internal products with the 14A process is now slated for the latter half of 2027, with high-volume production expected to commence in 2028. This advancement is earlier than the original schedule, which anticipated risk production starting in 2028 and moving to volume production in 2029.

LG announced that it will deactivate the pop-up, but this is seen as a temporary solution, as the method allowing LG to install the advertisement is still operational.
