The Light Flip revives the flip phone concept, eliminating all distractions.

The company's inaugural flip phone showcases a T9 keyboard, 5G connectivity, USB-C, and features LightOS instead of engaging apps.

      Light Phone

Flip phones are experiencing a bit of a resurgence. However, most contemporary versions often feel poorly constructed or simply trade one set of distractions for another. This is what Light aims to address with the Light Flip — its debut flip phone and the fourth device the brand has introduced in the last decade. Adhering to the principles of its earlier models, this new phone merges a traditional clamshell design with a streamlined software experience that enables users to stay connected without being overwhelmed by constant distractions.

A traditional flip phone with modern essentials

Unlike many other feature phones currently available, the Light Flip does not forsake modern conveniences. It operates on LightOS, the company’s proprietary operating system, and includes features such as 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone also supports existing tools within LightOS, such as navigation, a music player, T9 predictive texting, voice-to-text, and audio messaging.

      Light

On the hardware front, the Light Flip boasts a 2.8-inch OLED screen with a matte finish and a classic T9 keypad underneath. Other specifications include a 12MP camera (using a 50MP sensor), 128GB of storage, 6GB of RAM, dual stereo speakers, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, support for Nano SIM and eSIM, and a replaceable 1,800mAh battery. The design is refreshingly straightforward, with six color choices: Black, Navy, Red, Pink, Yellow, and Light Gray.

      Light

Light describes the Flip as targeting users who appreciate the nostalgia of flip phones but are dissatisfied with the trade-offs in current offerings. Rather than cramming the device with social media applications or attention-seeking software, the company remains dedicated to its objective of designing phones that promote mindful usage while providing practical tools for daily life. This philosophy has been consistent since the launch of the original Light Phone via crowdfunding, establishing a niche for minimalist devices that intentionally avoid the constant notifications, feeds, and app ecosystems prevalent in modern smartphones. The Light Flip simply encapsulates that same concept within one of the most iconic phone designs ever created.

      Pricing and availability

The Light Flip will be priced at $299, or starting at $39 per month with Light’s mobile service. The company anticipates starting shipments in April 2027.

The timing is noteworthy as well. At a moment when nearly all smartphone manufacturers are competing to incorporate more AI features, Light is moving in the opposite direction. Rather than exploring what additional capabilities a phone can offer, the company is considering what can be omitted. For users aiming to minimize their screen time, this could be the most significant feature of all.

TSMC may implement a price increase that could directly affect your next phone, laptop, or tablet.

Here’s what TSMC's anticipated 10% chip price hike could mean in financial terms and why your next phone or laptop might become more expensive.

I flinched at the moment I read "TSMC" and "price increase" in the same headline, and honestly, you should too. It appears the company that produces the chips for nearly every flagship device, including Apple’s A-series and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, is likely to raise prices.

Samsung's promotion of free storage doubling for preorders is ending in Austria, and the new offer isn’t as appealing.

Samsung's free storage doubling promotion may soon be a thing of the past.

If you have pre-ordered a Samsung foldable solely for the extra free storage benefit, tomorrow's Unpacked event might be disappointing. For years, pre-ordering a new Galaxy guaranteed double the storage without any additional cost. Purchase the 128GB version, and you’d get 256GB for the same price. The same rule applied to the 256GB and 512GB variants. However, this may change at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event.

Apple resolves a flaw in Hide My Email that revealed users’ actual email addresses.

Here’s how Apple's Hide My Email vulnerability leaked real addresses for more than a year and why it was only addressed once the issue became public.

It turns out the "Hide" function in Hide My Email wasn't performing as well as expected, a situation I reported on back in July. Security researcher Tyler Murphy flagged the issue in June 2025, but even though Apple stated it was fixed in March 2026, independent tests confirmed it remained vulnerable until July 3, 2026.

So how did this issue actually work?
