Gemini Omni powers the new editing tools in Google Vids, and personal avatars are also being introduced.
Google is integrating Gemini Omni and personal avatars into Google Vids, enhancing the app's AI-driven video creation features for paid users. Gemini Omni now allows users to generate and edit clips using natural language, while personal avatars enable users to feature in videos without the need for on-camera recordings.
Google Vids previously included Veo-powered video generation, AI presenters, screen recording, and functionalities for converting Slides presentations into narrated videos. The addition of Omni enhances this setup into a more comprehensive editing process, allowing users to refine clips through conversation rather than starting over after each adjustment.

Gemini Omni manages the complete editing workflow
Gemini Omni, unveiled at Google I/O 2026, is a versatile content model that can process text, images, sketches, voice recordings, and pre-existing footage. Within Google Vids, users can start by describing the clip they envision and provide reference images for enhanced control over the outcome.
Once the initial version is completed, you can interact with Omni to modify backgrounds, enhance lighting, apply effects, or tweak specific elements of the scene. The same tools are also applicable to videos filmed with a smartphone.
This conversational method gives Omni an edge over simpler video production tools. Each new command builds on the previous one, maintaining continuity in appearance, setting, and subjects through ongoing edits. It also alleviates much of the technical challenges associated with conventional editing software like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
You can create an avatar that resembles and sounds like you
The introduction of personal avatars adds another compelling feature to Vids. By uploading a selfie and a short audio clip, along with typing a script, Google will generate a digital version of you to present it onscreen. This feature could be particularly useful for training videos, product showcases, company updates, or presentations where recording yourself is impractical due to time or equipment constraints.
Gemini Omni and personal avatars are available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as qualifying Workspace business customers. However, personal avatars are restricted to adults in certain regions and are linked to the account holder’s likeness. Each generated clip also includes an invisible SynthID watermark.

Google may soon allow you to personalize Gemini's voice
You can finally prevent Gemini from sounding like your HR manager.
Google has been working on making Gemini's voice more natural, expressive, and conversational over the past few months. It seems the company is now getting ready to offer users greater control over how the AI communicates. Code discovered by Android Authority's APK Insights in the latest beta version of the Google app suggests that Gemini may soon enable users to customize its voice across four distinct parameters: Energy, Formality, Warmth, and Speed. Instead of selecting from a predetermined list of voices, users could adjust these traits to craft a voice that aligns better with their preferences.
OpenAI's ChatGPT will now remind teenagers to take breaks and provide parents with more controls
New parental controls include Quiet Hours, Study Mode defaults, and notifications for serious account violations.
OpenAI aims to enhance ChatGPT’s safety for teens, with updates extending beyond a simple content filter. In a recent update, the company clarified its position on why teens should have access to AI, asserting that excluding them would leave them ill-prepared for a key technology of their generation. Nearly 90% of teenagers already utilize ChatGPT weekly for learning, research, or organization, prompting OpenAI to emphasize that access should come with genuine protections suitable for their age.
