      Roblox is soon celebrating its 20th anniversary and is commemorating the event with a new method to create games without needing any coding skills. The platform has consistently promoted the idea that anyone can be a creator, not only established studios.       What is Build?

      Roblox is launching Build, a creation tab designed for mobile devices that is integrated into the Roblox app. The concept is straightforward: you simply input the game or character you wish to create, and Build provides a functional starting point that you can playtest, modify, and share with friends.

      Build is not an independent tool. It operates on the same backend as Roblox Studio, allowing you to initiate a project on your mobile device and continue it later in Studio or the other way around. Under the surface, a combination of open-source and Roblox's proprietary AI models handles all the essential tasks, from gameplay mechanics and character design to sound and visual aesthetics.

      Roblox is also introducing a suite of new AI tools for its more serious developers. Among these are a playtesting agent that identifies bugs before real players encounter them, an analytics agent that responds to questions in plain English, and an experiment agent that suggests adjustments to enhance engagement and retention.

      When can you try it?

      The Build feature will enter public alpha on July 28, starting with users in New Zealand and later expanding to additional regions. During this alpha phase, Build will be available to age-verified users aged 9 and older, although published games must still pass Roblox’s regular safety review before being available to a wider 16-plus audience.

      Roblox has stated that simplified creation does not imply lower quality. Games developed using Build will be ranked according to the same retention-based discovery system as all other games on the platform, so there is no shortcut to the homepage just because AI assisted in its creation.

      A basic version of Build will be free, with paid options available for creators seeking more features. Two decades after “you make the game” became the ethos of Roblox, it now feels considerably more tangible.
