Your child can now obtain a free Spotify account that includes parental controls.
Children now have access to personalized playlists and Wrapped summaries through Spotify's new free managed accounts.
Parents no longer need to subscribe to a premium plan to provide their children with a secure Spotify account. The company has announced an expansion of free managed accounts to all subscription tiers, starting immediately in the US, UK, Australia, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. With previous rollouts, managed accounts are now available in a total of 16 countries, with more to follow soon.
What features are available for kids with a managed account?
Managed accounts offer young listeners a dedicated, music-focused experience where they can create their own playlists and receive tailored song recommendations through features like daylist and Made for You mixes. Additionally, they will receive a personalized Wrapped summary at the end of the year, highlighting their distinct listening preferences. This also means that parents can receive their accurate Wrapped summary as their children's listening habits won’t affect their results.
How can parents maintain control and set up an account?
Parents have the ability to filter explicit content and manage playback for specific artists or tracks. Video content and Canvas visuals are disabled by default, and children cannot make purchases or access messaging features. These accounts are also automatically set to private and cannot be searched for.
Setting up a managed account is straightforward. Simply open Spotify on your phone, tap on your profile icon, then select Add account and choose Create a managed account. From there, you can select a display name and set content preferences for your child.
With this change, Spotify has eliminated the financial barrier that previously required a paid plan for this option. Now families everywhere can provide their children with their own musical space at no cost.

Last week, Google announced that its 2026 Made by Google event is scheduled for August 12. The Pixel 11 series is expected to be the highlight of the event, alongside the fifth-generation Pixel Watch. Google has now shared its first video teaser, which seems to introduce both the Pixel 11 Pro and the rumored Pixel Glow feature.

Reports indicate that OnePlus is exiting the US market, and the brand may also leave global markets by 2027.
Financial difficulties and increasing component costs are driving OnePlus to withdraw from the US and Europe.
If you have been following OnePlus' rumored exit, this news may sound familiar. There have been numerous reports over the past several months about OnePlus reducing its presence in the US and Europe, which the company has consistently denied. However, Bloomberg now reports that OnePlus is set to actually halt operations in the US and Europe starting this week, and this time it seems credible. This decision is part of a larger restructuring within its parent company, Oppo, with plans for OnePlus to eventually exit the global market, including India, by 2027 while remaining in China for the time being.
Xiaomi has outpaced Samsung to become the first non-Pixel phone to run stable Android 17.
The rollout of stable Android 17 has commenced with Xiaomi's latest flagship, positioning it ahead of Samsung and other competitors.
Android 17 was released for Pixel phones last month, and if you were hoping that your non-Pixel Android device would quickly catch up, you may need to wait longer. Samsung is still working on the One UI 9 in public beta, and most other manufacturers have not yet disclosed when their custom interfaces will be updated to Android 17. Therefore, it is quite surprising that Xiaomi has managed to be the first to implement it. Xiaomi has begun rolling out HyperOS 3 updates based on stable Android 17, but it is currently available solely for the Xiaomi 17 series.
