The Fold 8 Ultra may finally feature Samsung's top-of-the-line cameras.
Improved low-light performance, Video LUT, dual recording capabilities, and S26 Ultra-grade resolution.
The main criticism of every Galaxy Z Fold, including the Fold 7 released last year, has been consistent: great phone, but the cameras are subpar.
Samsung has traditionally kept its top camera technology for the Galaxy S Ultra series, leaving Fold users with a somewhat diminished experience. However, a recent leak suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra might change this.
According to Korean leaker Lanzuk (via Naver), based on internal carrier data that purportedly holds 100% reliability, the Fold 8 Ultra will adopt significant camera features from Samsung’s current flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The leaker claims that the Fold 8 Ultra may feature “enhanced camera resolution,” likely referring to an upgraded telephoto or ultrawide sensor, notably improved low-light performance, and video LUT support for professional-grade color grading directly within the camera app.
Additionally, the Fold Ultra might support native front-and-rear dual recording functionalities.
For context, the S26 Ultra is already among the best at low-light photography in the market. Integrating that Nightography technology into a foldable device is, in my opinion, a true enhancement.
Why is this significant beyond just a typical specification upgrade?
Firstly, cameras have been a limiting factor for foldables for quite some time. Consumers seeking the best photography experience with a Samsung phone tend to choose a Galaxy S Ultra.
This compromise has been a strategic decision by Samsung, and this new leak implies the company may be ready to address it, at least in the Ultra version. Whether this shift comes from a pro-consumer perspective or is a tactic to justify a higher launch price remains to be seen.
Lanzuk also specifies that these improvements are intended exclusively for the Fold 8 Ultra, rather than the standard Fold 8, which is anticipated to be released in a new Pistachio color. All will be revealed on July 22, 2026.
