It's not limited to phones. Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy Watches are also becoming more expensive.
Your upcoming Galaxy Watch could be the latest target of Samsung's price increase trend.
Samsung's rumored hardware lineup for 2026 is starting to look like a planned assault on your finances. Reports indicate that certain upcoming Galaxy Z foldables may see price hikes, and now it appears the Galaxy Watch series might be following suit.
WinFuture reports that Samsung might increase prices for the entire Galaxy Watch 9 line and the soon-to-be-released Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in Europe. The suspected hikes range between €30 and €50, depending on the specific model. The entry-level Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to start at €409 for the 40mm Bluetooth model. If you opt for LTE, the price may rise to €459. The larger 44mm variant could be priced at €439 with Bluetooth or €489 with LTE. The situation worsens for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, which could be priced at €749, adding another €50 barrier for consumers looking to acquire Samsung's most advanced smartwatch.
These leaked prices are from Germany, so they can't be directly converted to the anticipated US prices. However, they illustrate the upward trend Samsung may be following. The upcoming Galaxy Watch 9 is said to resemble the previous Watch 8, while the Ultra 2 is expected to feature a refreshed numbered bezel and new color options.
There are rumors of larger batteries being introduced across the lineup, including a potentially significant capacity boost for the Ultra 2. Additionally, Samsung is likely to adopt Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, enhancing performance, efficiency, and on-device AI capabilities.
Last year's models may prove to be a smarter investment.
The Galaxy Watch 8 was already positioned as a premium smartwatch. Raising the starting price above €400 further distanced Samsung's standard model from casual fitness trackers, edging into the realm of higher-end wearables like Apple Watches. Recently, the Galaxy Watch 8 was discounted to just under $220, which made it an attractive buy and a clear recommendation.
Samsung has yet to confirm the details regarding these watches, their specifications, or pricing. The lineup is expected to be unveiled at an upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in July. In the meantime, those interested in a Galaxy Watch may want to monitor the current models closely.
