If these leaks are accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide might resolve the main issue with the Fold.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide has leaked again, and this time the key highlight isn’t the cameras or the color — it’s the shape. Two new leaks are providing a clearer view of Samsung’s upcoming book-style foldable, indicating that the company may finally be addressing one of the long-standing complaints about the Galaxy Z Fold series.
Sometimes a wider design is more advantageous
The latest images reveal what seems to be a dummy unit of the anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, shown in black this time. Previous leaks displayed the same model in white, while recent reports suggest that the darker variant may be called Graphite. At first glance, the phone doesn’t appear drastically different from the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung appears to be maintaining its refined design aesthetic, which features flat sides, a flat frame, a slim chassis, and the recognizable vertically aligned pill-shaped camera module. Button and port placements remain unchanged, with the power and volume buttons located on the right edge and a USB-C port at the bottom. The significant change lies in the phone’s dimensions.

In contrast to the narrow cover display that has characterized Samsung’s Fold series for years, the dummy unit indicates a noticeably wider and slightly shorter design. Interestingly, this design also has similarities to both Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone and Huawei’s broader foldable approach, suggesting a potential industry shift towards a more standardized form factor.
A Fold that appears less foldable
Further fueling speculation, reliable leaker Ice Universe shared a comparison render of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 against the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The comparison implies that the Fold 8’s cover display is only marginally wider than Samsung’s flagship smartphone. If this holds true, Samsung could finally be offering a Fold that doesn’t feel like a compromise when closed — a feature that many users have desired for years.
The leaked dummy also indicates a dual-camera setup, with previous reports suggesting it will include a 50-megapixel primary camera alongside a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor. We won’t have to wait long to verify the accuracy of these leaks. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at its Unpacked event on July 22, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and Galaxy Watch 9.
