If these leaks are accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide might address the Fold's most significant issue.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide has leaked once again, and this time, the most significant detail isn't about the camera or color — it's about the design. Two new leaks are providing a clearer insight into Samsung’s upcoming book-style foldable, indicating that the company might be finally addressing one of the long-standing criticisms of the Galaxy Z Fold series.
Sometimes, a wider design is preferable
The most recent images depict what seems to be a dummy unit of the anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide in black. Earlier leaks showcased the same model in white, while recent reports suggest that the darker version could be named Graphite. Upon initial observation, the phone doesn't appear significantly different from the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung appears to be maintaining its refined design aesthetics, featuring flat sides, a flat frame, a slim body, and the well-known vertically aligned pill-shaped camera module. The placement of buttons and ports remains consistent, with the power and volume buttons situated on the right edge and a USB-C port at the bottom. The notable change lies in the phone’s dimensions.

Instead of the unusually narrow cover display that has characterized Samsung's Fold series, the dummy reveals a visibly wider and slightly shorter design. Curiously, this design is also reminiscent of both Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone and Huawei's wider foldable concept, suggesting a possible industry trend toward a similar form factor.
A Fold that appears less foldable
Adding to the speculation, reliable leaker Ice Universe shared a render that compares the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This comparison indicates that the Fold 8's cover display is only marginally wider than Samsung’s flagship slab device. If this holds true, Samsung might finally produce a Fold that doesn't feel like a compromise when closed — a change that many Fold users have desired for years.
The leaked dummy also suggests a dual-camera configuration, with prior reports claiming it will feature a 50-megapixel main camera in addition to a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor. We won't have to wait long to see how accurate these leaks are, as Samsung is anticipated to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at its Unpacked event on July 22, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and Galaxy Watch 9.
