X is inviting you to launch its new streaming hub with a proposition of $1 million to incentivize your participation.
Live Studio introduces scheduling, audience controls, and real-time analytics to X's Creator Studio, but the platform has not disclosed how it will distribute the $1 million among creators.
X is making a significant move to become a hub for live video by launching a new tool called Live Studio and offering $1 million in creator payouts to draw streamers to its platform. Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, shared the announcement on X along with a demonstration of the tool.
Live Studio is integrated within X’s Creator Studio, providing streamers with a dedicated command center for their broadcasts. Creators can manage their audience by selecting who can watch, choosing from everyone on the platform, verified accounts only, followers, or paid subscribers. Setting up a stream is relatively simple, with Live Studio allowing users to easily add a title and thumbnail, as well as schedule their streams. During a live broadcast, the tool presents real-time information, including viewer counts, geographical demographics, and the devices being used.
To initiate this new feature, X will offer $1 million to creators who livestream in the upcoming payout cycle, though specifics on how the distribution will work were not provided. It remains uncertain if payouts will depend on metrics such as viewership or engagement.
However, there is a limitation to live streaming on X: the feature is exclusively available to users with an X Premium subscription, which starts at $3 per month. This requirement restricts the number of creators who can participate from the outset. Moreover, X has an inconsistent history with live events, as high-profile streams have experienced crashes due to high demand.
The lack of clarity regarding payouts makes it challenging to compare X’s live streaming initiative to competitors like Twitch, which boasts a well-established creator economy supported by subscriptions, advertisements, and tips that offer streamers a more predictable income. Creators interested in a portion of the $1 million payout should wait for X to clarify the details before committing to the platform.

Reddit is discontinuing anonymous browsing on old Reddit, much to the discontent of long-time users. The old interface will soon require users to log in, with this change expected to take effect within the next month. A Reddit admin announced this update on the platform, citing efforts to tighten access for automated systems.
TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube have been found to be failing kids with ineffective safety features. Research indicates that more than half of the child safety features on these social media platforms do not operate as promised. A report from the Cybersafety Research Center examined 86 child safety features across these platforms and found that only 35 were functioning correctly; the remainder were either broken, hidden in settings, or absent altogether.
Another study highlights that TikTok's injury advice is consistently problematic. TikTok often provides avenues for sharing health-related guidance from non-professionals, and a study conducted by researchers at Université de Montréal evaluated TikTok videos on anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation exercises. The study reviewed 106 videos, consisting of 55 from average users and 51 from healthcare professionals, and the results are concerning.
