Apple might introduce vapor chamber cooling technology in the iPad Pro by 2027.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is currently testing four new iPad Pro models intended for release in spring 2027. The devices are expected to retain the same 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes while primarily focusing on internal upgrades, including faster processors. Reports indicate that Apple has experimented with a vapor chamber cooling system for the iPad Pro, which could enhance sustained performance and mitigate overheating issues.
Apple is improving its cooling technology
The iPad Pro will not be the first Apple device to feature a vapor chamber cooling system. Apple adopted this design concept with the iPhone 17 Pro, years after it became popular among Android devices for managing internal heat. Besides integrating the vapor chamber cooling in the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple also transitioned to an aluminum chassis, facilitating better heat dissipation compared to the titanium material used in its previous model.
By incorporating a vapor chamber cooling system, Apple is merely aligning with industry standards rather than introducing something groundbreaking. In the Android market, brands like Red Magic have already advanced beyond typical vapor chambers by using liquid cooling solutions. For instance, the Red Magic 11S Pro smartphone has this feature, and the upcoming Red Magic Astra 2 tablet will also be equipped with liquid-cooled thermal management. The advantages of these systems are quite apparent.
“The company is on an 18-month upgrade schedule for the iPad Pro, suggesting that the vapor chamber could debut around spring 2027,” the publication reported earlier.
The design is likely to remain consistent
The upcoming iPad Pro's design is not anticipated to differ significantly from its M4 or M5-powered predecessors. Apple introduced this new design language over two years ago, removing the secondary ultrawide camera and featuring the thinnest all-metal chassis it has used for a tablet.
For a time, the iPad Pro held the title of the thinnest mainstream tablet. It was only in 2026 when Huawei's flagship MatePad tablet, finally available in Western markets, surpassed it.
This makes the potential cooling enhancement more noteworthy than a minor design update. If Apple maintains the iPad Pro’s slim profile while incorporating faster processors, improved thermal technology could enable the tablet to sustain performance longer during demanding tasks like video editing and gaming.

Huawei MatePad Pro Max surpasses Apple's iPad Pro as the thinnest 13-inch tablet
Huawei has officially launched the MatePad Pro Max in Germany, introducing its flagship tablet to Europe almost two months after its global release. The standout claim is that at just 4.7mm, the MatePad Pro Max is thinner than Apple's 13-inch iPad Pro, which measures 5.3mm. This makes it one of the slimmest large-screen tablets currently on the market. The real question, however, is whether being the thinnest is sufficient to attract consumers in a market where software ecosystems often take precedence over hardware.

A new OLED gaming tablet from Red Magic showcases liquid cooling technology
Red Magic has unveiled its new compact gaming tablet in the Chinese market after several teasers. Named the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, this device is built on the same principles that have made Red Magic phones unique: high-end gaming specifications, aggressive cooling solutions, and a design that embraces its gaming identity.
This tablet is set to be released globally as the Red Magic Astra 2 Gaming Tablet, with international pricing and availability to be disclosed on July 17.
