Final Cut Pro enhances its AI toolset
Final Cut Pro has received some of the most significant updates, including the Generate Captions feature, which uses on-device AI to transcribe audio automatically and insert subtitles directly into the timeline. The Edit Detection feature also relies on on-device AI to examine a finished video and divide it back into editable clips, simplifying the process of reworking previous exports or creating shorter versions for social media.
Apple
On the Mac platform, Final Cut Pro introduces Auto Mask, another on-device AI feature capable of recognizing elements like skin, hair, sky, foliage, and clothing without the need for manual tracking. Apple is also refining the Match Color feature for more natural outcomes and adding Advanced Trimming for precise frame-by-frame adjustments.
Final Cut Camera is receiving useful production enhancements too. It now supports Clean HDMI Out, offers expanded ProRes options, and allows the disabling of digital zoom to maintain full optical resolution in footage.
Pixelmator Pro becomes increasingly central
Pixelmator Pro is now better integrated across Creator Studio applications. Users of Final Cut Pro can send a frame directly to Pixelmator Pro for editing, then return it to the timeline. Similarly, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers users can open images in Pixelmator Pro, modify them, and have the edits saved back into their documents.
Apple
Generative tools are being introduced across more Creator Studio applications. Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform can now automatically create vector shapes. Additionally, Pixelmator Pro is capable of generating images based on straightforward text prompts.
Logic Pro has been updated with a reworked Chord ID system for more precise harmonic analysis, along with a new Producer Project from Grammy-winning producer Khris Riddick-Tynes. Moreover, new Alchemy and Beat Breaker tools are being introduced.
These updates are available at no extra cost for existing Apple Creator Studio subscribers. New subscribers will pay $12.99 per month or $129 per year, while educational pricing starts at $2.99 per month.
