It seems that Apple will indeed impose a $200 increase in the price of the iPhone 18 Pro.
The recent increase in Mac prices reveals much about the future of the iPhone 18 Pro, and IDC has quantified these insights.
Apple raised the prices of Macs and iPads considerably this week, and the underlying memory crisis is likely to persist for a while.
The pressing question is how this will impact the pricing of the iPhone 18 Pro, which is anticipated to arrive later this year. IDC has provided an answer, which may not please everyone (via MacRumors).
According to Nabila Popal, Senior Director of Data and Analytics at IDC, Apple’s latest price hikes have led to a significant revision in IDC’s pricing forecast for the iPhone 18 Pro models.
Initially, the research firm anticipated a $100 increase for Pro models and a comparatively modest $50 increase for the base iPhone 18. However, after observing Apple's price increases for Mac and iPad models, which reached as high as $300, Popal adjusted the prediction.
"My instinct tells me that the increase for iPhones could be even greater than we originally thought, potentially reaching $200 for the Pro and Pro Max models," she stated. "I think the era of $50 price hikes is behind us."
How did IDC come to this conclusion?
With a $200 increase, the starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro would be $1,299, and for the Pro Max, it would be $1,399.
To formulate this estimate, IDC looked at other devices with 12GB of RAM and noted the price increases they experienced. For example, the M4 iPad Air went up by $150, while the lower-tier M5 iPad Pro increased by $200.
Moreover, when upgrading to the next memory tier for configurable products, the process now takes twice as long as it used to. IDC believes Apple may apply a similar pricing strategy for the upcoming Pro iPhones.
These indicators point toward a likely price increase for the iPhone 18 Pro later this year, making a $200 hike seem quite feasible.

Finding Android apps on the Google Play Store has become significantly easier with Gemini.
Google's AI assistant now collaborates directly with the Play Store for app recommendations and installations.
Google is enhancing Gemini's functionality on Android. The Google Play integrated app for Gemini was first showcased at Google I/O 2026 and is now finally being rolled out to users. This new feature directly incorporates the Play Store into Gemini, allowing the AI assistant to assist with app discovery, purchases, and other tasks without exiting the chat.
Gemini can now accomplish more than just suggesting apps.
Apple's iPhone 18 may see a slight increase in RAM, primarily to facilitate AI tasks in iOS 27.
Reports indicate that while a significant RAM upgrade may not be on the horizon, a minor boost in memory is expected to support Apple’s expanding AI capabilities. TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will likely see an increase from 8GB to 9GB of RAM for better integration of Apple Intelligence in iOS 27.
Just enough RAM to keep Apple Intelligence running smoothly.
A new iPhone app offers calming haptics to assist users in relaxing.
This iOS app avoids the need for accounts and subscriptions, relying solely on touch to help users de-stress.
Unlike most mindfulness apps that require account creation and subscriptions before providing any relaxation assistance, Vän, a fresh iPhone app developed by Swiss indie developer Adrian Stanco, is designed to be the opposite.
I discovered the app on Reddit, and its concept intrigued me enough to try it. Instead of engaging sounds or endless scrolling, it focuses entirely on haptics—the subtle vibrations that smartphones can produce. This results in a calming experience derived from simply holding your smartphone rather than staring at the screen.
