      Passkeys are intended to supplant passwords with device-based authentication methods like Face ID or fingerprint recognition. They are more difficult to steal, resistant to phishing attacks, and considerably easier to use.       Seven of the top 25 most visited websites worldwide still do not support passkeys natively, including Instagram, Netflix, Spotify, Samsung, Roblox, and Baidu. These are not small entities lacking engineering resources; they are platforms with hundreds of millions, sometimes billions, of users still relying solely on passwords for security.

      Interestingly, while Meta provides passkey support on Facebook and WhatsApp, Instagram users can only utilize this feature if they connect their accounts to a Facebook login that has passkeys activated (as reported by TechCrunch).
