Instagram is making its debut on Samsung TVs, bringing episodic series and live TV to your screen shortly.
Meta has introduced new features for group viewing in Instagram for TV, which has recently expanded to Samsung Smart TVs throughout the US. With the addition of Samsung, Instagram for TV is now available on the three largest connected TV platforms in the country.

What’s new in Instagram for TV on Samsung
The rollout on Samsung includes TVs from the 2020 model year onward, following its initial debut on Amazon Fire TV in December 2025 and the addition of Google TV in February 2026.

Instagram is also piloting interest-based channels that categorize Reels, such as comedy, sports, or your favorite creators, allowing you to bypass the usual debates about what to watch.
You can cast Reels directly from your phone to your TV, including any items saved in your Saved tab, a feature that is already active on Fire TV and Google TV. Instagram is also testing a special section for horizontal videos, recognizing that vertical content from phones may not be ideal for living room viewing.
The big development: episodic series and live TV
Here’s where it gets interesting. Meta is looking into longer form creator content, multi-part series, and Live TV, which would allow real-time broadcasts from creators directly to your television for the first time.

This long-form content builds upon the Series feature that Meta started testing on mobile in early June, which enables creators to group Reels into sequential episodes in a dedicated space.
These formats do not have a confirmed launch date, and Meta indicates that it is collaborating closely with creators to determine what is effective for TV viewing versus mobile. If successful, your next favorite show could originate as an Instagram Reel.
