Akko Dash V9 Ultra review: I tried out this extremely lightweight gaming mouse, and it also made my work easier.

      Akko Dash V9 Ultra

      **MSRP**: $59.99

“Feels like a toy. Moves like a ninja.”

      **Pros**

      - Lightweight construction

      - Dependable sensor

      - High polling rate

      - Lacks software bloat

      - Affordable price

      **Cons**

      - Not comfortable for larger hands

      - Scroll wheel is mediocre

      - No DPI switch

      - 8K mode impacts performance

I have smaller-than-average hands, so size is my main concern when choosing a mouse. Given my delicate wrists, weight is also a critical factor. I've used enough lightweight gaming mice to be wary of them. However, ultra-lightweight models frequently have certain drawbacks. Typically, when I pick one up, I'm prepared for creaking plastic and a hollow feel that makes me think it could break if I click too hard in a clutch moment.

When the Akko Dash V9 Ultra arrived, I anticipated disappointment. Fortunately, I was wrong. After several weeks of using it for flicking, tracking, and second-guessing my reflexes, I consider this mouse to be the sports car of its category. It prioritizes raw speed over everyday comfort and, priced at $59.99, it undercuts competitors that are often more than double its cost. I'm looking at you, Razer and Logitech!

Equipped with a top-quality PixArt PAW3950 sensor and offering an 8,000Hz polling rate in wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes, it delivers almost zero latency and remarkably precise tracking, nearly telepathic in fast-paced games.

However, it’s not without faults, and I’ll be clear about who it won’t suit. The compact, symmetrical shape is intended for small to medium hands, making it a tough sell for those with larger palms. The scroll wheel is simply forgettable. These are real compromises, but for the right player (like myself), they’re minor sacrifices for a truly elite product.

**Akko Dash V9 Ultra review design and palm ergonomics**: Ideal for most grips, except for large hands

Let’s begin with the stark, industrial design. Minimalism is the key word here. The Akko Dash V9 Ultra features a strictly symmetrical design (except for the left-side navigation buttons) that dictates how you hold it. Akko has been refreshingly honest in stating this mouse is optimized for small to medium hands, and I appreciate that transparency.

If you have larger hands and typically use a full palm grip, you may find it cramped during extended sessions. A friend of mine, who has moderately large hands and spends hours playing shooter games, commented that while its low weight allows for fast movement, the size feels slightly small. It’s clear that adapting means adjusting your muscle memory towards a claw or fingertip grip, where this mouse truly shines.

The main buttons feature a subtle concave curve that I found more comfortable than I expected. Your fingers naturally fall into the optimal clicking position and stay put without slipping or a learning curve. This results in a secure feeling that is critical during intense in-game moments. What impressed me the most was the consistency.

The click actuation feels the same whether I click near the base or at the edge, which was a significant relief for me. It’s also an indication that the switch tensioning was done correctly, something many budget gaming mice fail to achieve.

Visually, it’s understated yet sharp. There are two color options available: a matte black version weighing exactly 40 grams, and a white version with purple accents on the wheel and side buttons that weighs slightly more at 41 grams. There are no flashy, battery-draining RGB lights here; just a single functional LED above the wheel indicating device connection and DPI levels. This gaming mouse is the first I’ve tested that doesn’t illuminate my desk, and honestly, I don’t miss it.

However, there’s one notable absence to be aware of before spending your hard-earned cash on this sleek, lightweight item. Strangely, it lacks a dedicated DPI switch. To keep the weight low, Akko removed the extra button, meaning changing DPI on the fly without software requires pressing a cumbersome three-button combo (left-click, right-click, and middle scroll click) simultaneously. While this keeps the top shell neat, cycling through DPI levels during a mission can become annoying.

The only method to adjust the DPI is via a web dashboard, which also means keeping a browser open at all times. On the upside, you won’t have to deal with installing yet another app on your machine. I prefer the browser method since most of my work revolves around Google Chrome.

      **Score: 9/10**

**Akko Dash V9 Ultra review build and in-hand feel**: A refreshing experience

Reducing a wireless mouse's weight to 40 grams usually results in sacrificing structural integrity, resulting in a shell that creaks, rattles, and feels fragile. Somehow, Akko
