Numerous rumors have circulated about the second-generation iPhone Air, with the latest providing insight into the enhancements it may feature and its release schedule.
As reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the second-generation iPhone Air, codenamed V62, is set to launch in spring 2027. This adds more detail to Apple’s previously discussed staggered launch approach for the iPhone 18 series.

What changes will Apple implement in the iPhone Air?
The single rear camera of the iPhone Air has garnered significant customer feedback, according to Gurman, and Apple intends to address this with the addition of an ultrawide camera. This upgrade is expected to enhance the iPhone Air 2’s capabilities, making it more comparable to the standard iPhone while still differentiating it from the Pro models.
Additionally, Apple is focusing on enhancing the battery life for the second-generation Air, which has been another concern for users. However, it's unclear whether this will be achieved through a larger battery cell (which is challenging given the slim design of the Air) or through software optimizations and efficiency improvements, or a combination of both.
One aspect that is certain is the processor. The iPhone Air 2 will be powered by the A20 Pro chip, identical to the processor in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max launching this fall (via Bloomberg).

Why is Apple launching the iPhone Air in spring?
The planned spring 2027 release is part of a larger change in Apple's strategy for handling iPhone launches this year.
During its September 2026 event, Apple is anticipated to skip the standard iPhone 18 release, only unveiling the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a potential foldable device (likely named iPhone Ultra).
Both the standard iPhone 18 and the expected iPhone Air 2 may debut in spring 2027, about six months after the fall release.
This strategy aims to distribute revenue more evenly throughout the year while allowing Apple to compete more effectively with Samsung, which typically launches its flagship devices early in the year (around January-February).

You will soon be able to send view-once texts via WhatsApp
This feature operates similarly to view-once media, preventing copying, forwarding, and screenshots once the recipient opens the message.
WhatsApp has long included disappearing messages, but there are two significant limitations. It applies to all messages in a chat rather than individual messages, and the deletion timer begins when a message is sent, regardless of whether the recipient has read it. WhatsApp is currently working to resolve both issues. Earlier this year, the platform began testing an "After Reading" timer for disappearing messages that starts the deletion countdown only after the recipient has opened the message. Now, WABetaInfo reports that they are also testing view-once messages, allowing users to send individual texts that become unavailable after a single viewing.

Google’s updated migration tool makes switching from iPhone to Android easier
The Android Switch tool can now transfer app data, iMessages, passwords, and more.
Transitioning from an iPhone to an Android device has not always been a seamless process. Apple introduced some enhancements in iOS 26.3 that allow users to migrate data such as photos, messages, notes, contacts, passwords, and apps wirelessly. Google has now completely revamped the Android Switch, its migration tool, to provide a smoother experience for those moving from iOS to Android.
According to Paul Dunlop, Google's product lead for Onboarding, Settings, and Switching on Android, the company has collaborated closely with Apple to enhance the migration experience on Android 17 devices. The update features a wireless-first transfer process, the ability to move a wider range of data types, seamless transfers for Google Accounts and eSIMs, and new developer tools that can maintain app data during platform transitions. Here are all the new features coming to Android Switch.

Tim Cook states that Apple price increases are inevitable as AI drives up memory costs
Purchasing a new Apple device this fall may be pricier than anticipated.
The increasing costs of RAM and storage are becoming a significant issue for the tech industry. Apple has largely prevented these increases from affecting consumers, but according to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal, that may be changing.
In an interview with the publication, Apple CEO Tim Cook indicated that price hikes are now "unavoidable" due to the rising costs of DRAM memory and NAND
