Threads simplifies the process of locating your community and filtering out content you prefer not to view.
Threads Communities has exited beta, introducing new custom icons and a dedicated hub, while a new tool called Your Algo allows users to set topic preferences for a tailored feed.
Meta has launched several enhancements to its Communities feature and unveiled a new tool for personalizing the feed, coinciding with the platform reaching 500 million monthly active users.
Communities gain distinct identities
The Communities feature, which allows users to create groups based on shared interests, is now fully operational and has received multiple upgrades. Communities can now adopt custom icons for easier identification within the app, and a new Communities Hub has been added to the main menu, making it easier to navigate between communities and the feed.
Meta is also introducing a progress tracker that indicates how close a topic is to becoming a fully recognized community, broadening champion status to include more engaged members, and introducing native-language tags for communities in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. Additionally, Live Chats, which are currently available in select Communities, will soon be expanded to more groups, offering co-hosting features and the ability to share moments directly to the feed.
Your Algo gives users feed control
Meta is launching a new feed-adjustment tool named Your Algo, building on the existing Dear Algo feature introduced in February, which allows users to indicate their content preferences.
Your Algo complements this feature by allowing users to privately set their topic preferences and select the duration for these preferences, with options for one, three, or seven days. These settings remain visible only to the user, and both features can be accessed from a single hub. Your Algo is currently available for users in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
This rollout follows Instagram's introduction of a similar feature called Your Algorithm, which allows users to adjust the topics they want to see more or less of throughout the app.
