Disney has always had a fondness for witch tales, and the Hexed trailer appears to be its finest in years.
From Maleficent to Hexed, Disney is reentering its witch-themed era!
Disney has just released the first teaser trailer for Hexed, which is set in an enchanting world filled with witches. This animated film marks the studio's first original non-sequel since Wish in 2023.
The 65th animated feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios will be released in theaters on November 25, 2026. For those who prefer streaming, Hexed will be available on Disney+ in early 2027.
**Hexed cast, plot, and trailer overview**
The trailer showcases Billie, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, an impulsive teenager who has always felt like she doesn't quite fit in. When her bracelet shatters, and her fingers begin to emit magic, her life quickly spirals out of control.
She accidentally wreaks havoc in a school bathroom, gets expelled, and is thrust from suburban life into a hidden magical world known as Hexe, which boasts a unique and dreamlike visual aesthetic.
In Hexe, she meets two new friends: Ms. Quill, an enchanted feather quill voiced by seven-time Emmy winner Tracey Ullman, and Elias Quire, a magical journal voiced by Stephen Fry.
Billie's cautious mother, Alice, voiced by Rashida Jones, also joins the adventure. Together, they uncover long-buried family secrets that could change the realm of witches forever.
Director Fawn Veerasunthorn characterized Billie as someone who has felt out of place in her own life, stating that it's only when she enters a realm of unpredictable, wild magic that she starts to discover her true self.
**A significant season for Disney and Pixar animation**
Hexed is set to debut during a strong period for Disney and Pixar animation overall. Earlier this year, Pixar’s Hoppers, an original sci-fi comedy about a woman who transfers her consciousness into a robotic beaver, surpassed $500 million globally.
Toy Story 5, featuring Woody and Buzz facing off against a new disruptive tablet toy named Lilypad, is set to premiere in theaters on June 19. Hexed follows in November, providing the studio with a robust animated presence throughout the year.
