      SHAREPOWER

Portable chargers can be quite dull — that’s not necessarily a negative comment. Most power banks are meant to be unexciting. They fit into a backpack, prevent your phone from dying, and are forgotten in a drawer once they’re done. Each year, brands attempt to make things more exciting with larger batteries, quicker charging, or more stylish designs, yet the fundamental concept rarely changes.

This is why Nimble’s new SharePower immediately grabbed my attention. It might be the most innovative power bank concept I’ve seen in years, not because it charges quicker than others, but because it addresses a surprisingly relatable issue. SharePower is a 10,000mAh portable charger made up of two magnetically connected 5,000mAh batteries. When you snap them together, you have a typical power bank. Separate them, and each part becomes its own portable charger, allowing you to literally share your power with someone else.

Finally, a power bank made for real life.

If you’ve ever traveled with friends, spent a day at a conference, attended a concert, or waited through a flight delay, you’ve likely faced the universal modern anxiety: someone’s phone is about to die. Usually, this means lending your charger and hoping it’s returned before your own battery becomes critical. SharePower changes that scenario — one half remains with you, and the other goes to whoever neglected to charge their phone.

It’s such a straightforward idea that I’m surprised it hasn’t been mainstream until now. The design is also well thought out. One module features a foldable USB-C connector and a battery percentage display, while the other half includes its own built-in USB-C cable. According to Nimble, the two halves can charge multiple devices at the same time, making this setup even more versatile compared to traditional battery packs.

A genuinely clever twist in a crowded market.

What stands out most about SharePower is that it represents true innovation. The portable charger market is filled with products competing over charging speeds and battery capacities. While those enhancements are significant, they are also predictable. SharePower approaches the issue differently by reconsidering how people actually use power banks in daily life.

Nimble is also introducing a translucent Liquid Crystal Edition that offers a more unique look than the typical black rectangles dominating the market today. Will SharePower change the landscape of portable charging? Probably not. However, it’s uncommon to encounter a gadget and instantly think, “Why hasn't anyone done that before?” That’s precisely my reaction to a power bank that separates so you can share your battery. Honestly, it’s the most exciting charging idea I’ve seen in a long time.

UK plans social media ban for under-16s in major online safety initiative.

The UK wants children to engage with the real world instead of scrolling through TikTok.

The United Kingdom is preparing to implement some of the world’s strictest regulations on children’s access to social media following Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s announcement to ban users under 16 from major social networking sites. If enacted, this proposal would impact some of the largest online services, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, and X. While the first phase of the regulations isn’t expected to be enacted until spring 2027, the announcement indicates a considerable shift in how governments are addressing online safety issues for young people.
