Apple has made it clear that Siri AI will not serve as a romantic partner. The answer is a definite No.
Siri AI is becoming more intelligent, but don't expect it to be your soulmate.
During the recent WWDC event, Apple discussed the enhancements made to Siri. The assistant has grown smarter, more conversational, and even more useful across various applications. However, the company is keen on ensuring that it does not evolve into a true companion. In a conversation with Mostly Human, Apple's software head Craig Federighi and marketing leader Greg Joswiak explained the company’s AI strategy, particularly positioning Siri within a landscape filled with chatbots.
Setting boundaries for Siri
When questioned about the possibility of users creating an AI partner with Siri, Federighi responded with a definitive no. While it may seem like a light-hearted question at first glance, the answer carries significant weight, especially considering the current AI environment. Many AI products are tapping into themes of companionship, emotional reliance, and lengthy interactions aimed at maintaining user engagement. Yet, Apple intends to maintain clearer boundaries around Siri.
Siri AI has transformed into a markedly different assistant. It no longer struggles with fundamental follow-up questions. At WWDC 2026, Apple unveiled Siri AI, a revamped version powered by Apple Intelligence. This assistant can comprehend personal context, respond to questions regarding your screen content, search through messages, emails, photos, and other applications, and use broader web knowledge to provide up-to-date answers. A new dedicated Siri app has also been introduced, allowing users to revisit past conversations across Apple devices.
On the iPhone, Siri AI can be accessed via the side button, “Hey Siri,” or by swiping down from the Dynamic Island. On Mac and iPad, Apple has integrated Siri AI into Spotlight and context menus, enhancing its utility for files, images, text, and documents.
Prioritizing utility over dependency
Joswiak noted that Apple aims to keep users from becoming “prompt experts” just to utilize AI, which aligns with the company’s philosophy. Apple has consistently worked to make technology effortless and user-friendly, and Siri appears to benefit from this approach. If executed correctly, Apple users may begin to rely on the assistant for increasingly specific inquiries. The only limitation currently is availability. Apple has announced that Siri AI features are available for developer testing now on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and visionOS 27, with a public beta expected later this year for supported devices in English. China is currently excluded, and users of iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches in the EU will have to wait.

Scammers leveraged Gemini AI to orchestrate a massive phishing scheme, leading to a lawsuit from Google.
Google has filed legal action against a cybercrime organization that employed Gemini AI to generate phishing websites and orchestrate a widespread scam campaign affecting millions of users. The suspicious messages about unpaid tolls, delayed deliveries, or expiring rewards points are no longer the work of isolated scammers, as these texts have inundated American phones for years, but the landscape has shifted. Google asserts that artificial intelligence is enabling fraudsters to conduct larger and more convincing schemes than ever before.
Wikipedia has transformed “On This Day” into an entertaining daily game.
Wikipedia has long been the internet's go-to source for curious minds. You might start by checking one fact and then find yourself exploring topics like ancient civilizations, lesser-known inventors, or historical battles you never heard of. Now, the online encyclopedia is embracing that curiosity with a new game for iPhone users that could be one of its most clever ideas yet.
Named “Which came first?”, this new feature has just been rolled out in the latest version of Wikipedia's iOS app after its initial launch on Android. The premise is delightful: players are presented with a series of historical events and must decide which one occurred first. Each day features five questions based on events that took place on that specific date in history. In an age where mobile games often require endless grinding or intrusive notifications, it's refreshing to encounter a game that simply prompts you to think for a moment.
I attempted to obscure a face in iOS 27, but my iPhone generated a new one instead.
Apple aimed to enhance the Clean Up feature, but now your iPhone produces altered faces as if they were plentiful.
The Clean Up feature was introduced with the iOS 18.1 update, primarily designed to eliminate unwanted objects from photos, but it also had the capability to obscure faces. You would just circle a face, and it would blur it automatically. Apple referred to it as Identity protection.
With the iOS 27 update, Apple has refined the Clean Up feature, which can now handle more intricate scenes. However, this enhancement comes with a drawback. In the initial beta version, the face-hiding function is malfunctioning, resulting in something both amusing and concerning.
