Logitech Mobi Fold: an AI-enabled foldable travel mouse

Logitech has introduced the Mobi Fold, its inaugural foldable mouse, designed for hybrid workers who prefer a proper mouse while traveling but often leave one behind due to size constraints. The mouse can fold to almost half its size, and the fold also acts as a power switch: it powers on when opened and off when closed. According to Logitech, this on-and-off mechanism, combined with a small on-device AI model, helps prevent accidental clicks when the device is stored.

The main highlight is its battery life. Logitech claims it can last up to 30 days on a full charge and provide up to 22 hours of usage from just one minute of charging. It connects to as many as three devices via Bluetooth and is compatible with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Android, iPadOS, and Linux.

The company is targeting the Mobi Fold at what it describes as an "on-the-go productivity gap." It references its own research indicating that approximately 75% of professionals use a mouse, yet only 25% bring one into public or shared workspaces. Logitech also states that the design reduces muscle strain by 22% compared to using a laptop trackpad, a figure based on its internal testing.

The hardware is designed for travel, featuring a drop-tested, dust-resistant body and a hinge rated for 15 years of use. The clicks are muted for environments like trains and cafés.

The Mobi Fold is priced at $79.99 in the U.S. and £69.99 in the UK, with a business version available at $89.99. It is available worldwide in graphite, with lilac and off-white offered in select markets. Logitech, a Swiss company listed in Zurich and on the Nasdaq, released this product alongside the new Spotlight 2 presenter remote.

The main consideration is behavioral rather than technical: the Mobi Fold will only be relevant if those who currently leave a mouse at home choose to carry a foldable one instead. Logitech's data indicates that most of these individuals travel without a mouse presently.
