Copilot Health is Microsoft's most intuitive AI feature to date, developed in collaboration with 250 physicians and specifically designed not to supplant your doctor.
Copilot Health is currently in preview, and Microsoft's vision for it is evident: an AI assistant that comprehends your health history, interprets your fitness data, and helps you navigate your medical records all in one platform.
Copilot Health is a dedicated section within the Copilot chatbot accessible at copilot.microsoft.com/health, where you can pose your health-related queries.
You have inquiries, and Copilot Health provides clarity. It's a new, secure environment to ask health questions, connect your wearable data with health records, and receive personalized insights. What are the functionalities of Copilot Health?
It features a health profile where you can input your background and goals, allowing Copilot to deliver responses that are both relevant and personalized as opposed to generic.
You can also sync Apple Health, with additional wearable integrations on the horizon, and link your health records from over 50,000 healthcare providers across the US. This provides Copilot with a truly comprehensive view of your health instead of a limited one.
The tool offers personalized insights based on your overall health profile, data, and interactions. If you have a blood test report, Copilot Health can assist you in deciphering it, as well as help you identify the appropriate healthcare provider based on specialty, preferred language, location, and insurance coverage.
To enhance the credibility of the product, Microsoft has developed it with guidance from an external panel of over 250 physicians from more than 24 countries. It has also received ISO/IEC 42001 certification.
Can you trust it with your health information?
Conversations within Copilot Health are not shared with the broader Copilot platform. Microsoft also asserts that they are not utilized for AI training. Data is encrypted both at rest and during transit, and you have the option to delete everything at any point, giving you control over what you choose to share.
Additionally, the AI assistant gathers health information using guidelines released by the National Academy of Medicine and through its collaboration with Harvard Health.
However, much like other health-oriented AI tools (such as ChatGPT Health), Copilot Health is not designed to diagnose, treat, or prevent any illnesses. The company has been explicit that it should not replace professional medical advice.
Considering that Microsoft’s consumer products already handle over 50 million health inquiries daily, Copilot Health represents more of a formalization of an existing service rather than a completely new concept.
At present, Copilot Health is available in preview for US users aged 18 and older who have a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium subscription.
