Next month, the taxation on Samsung's Galaxy flagship could become more burdensome.
The Galaxy S26 may soon see an increase in price due to the year 2026.
Samsung’s premium smartphones are already quite pricey, but it seems the Galaxy S26 series could face even steeper costs. A recent report suggests that in at least one European market, consumers may be dealing with another round of price increases.
Samsung is reportedly getting ready to raise prices on several high-end models in Greece starting from the first week of June. The impacted devices are believed to include the Galaxy S series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy FE phones. The report indicates that these models could become at least €100, or around $116, more expensive, with larger storage versions possibly experiencing even greater hikes.
This situation appears to be just the beginning. In certain regions of Europe, the base storage models have allegedly seen price increases ranging from €50 to €80, or approximately $58 to $93. In the United States, similar reports claim that the Galaxy S26 series has experienced increases between $40 and $100, with models featuring larger storage being affected the most.
Samsung has demonstrated a willingness to raise prices on higher-storage versions of devices recently, with increases of up to $80 on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy S25 FE, and Galaxy S25 Edge. Some variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Tab have also become pricier.
The cause of these price increases can be attributed to the ongoing memory shortage and rising component costs. This trend is affecting various segments, from budget to high-end models. Even Chinese smartphone manufacturers, known for their competitively priced flagships, have implemented price hikes.
With Samsung's Unpacked event on the horizon, featuring next-gen foldables like the Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8, we can anticipate these devices will come with higher price points compared to their predecessors.
In related news, Samsung may finally address one of the most criticized aspects of the Galaxy Ultra’s camera lens. The upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro is rumored to be in testing, potentially positioned between the standard Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27 Ultra, with the possibility of offering a notably different camera experience.
In another development, Samsung’s Privacy Display feature may not remain exclusive for much longer, as new leaks indicate that Xiaomi is working on a similar anti-snoop technology expected to debut with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4 later this year.
In an unfortunate incident, a Samsung Galaxy S25 FE exploded while charging. A Reddit user detailed her alarming experience of waking up to popping sounds and what she described as fireworks, with debris scattering in her room. She acknowledged that the phone was charging on her mattress, admitting it was not the best practice, though she used the original cable and a compatible Samsung charging brick. It's worth noting that Samsung no longer includes a wall charger in the packaging. She also confirmed that while the phone was on the mattress, it wasn't covered by any other objects.
