Netcraze has introduced Stellar 6 - an outdoor Wi-Fi 6 access point with PoE support.

The device expands the capabilities of the Netcraze ecosystem in professional scenarios where network equipment requires stable operation outdoors across a wide temperature range and under adverse weather conditions. One of the main features of the Stellar 6 NAP-650 is its IP65-rated housing for vertical installation on a mast or wall. This means complete protection against dust ingress and resistance to water jets of up to 12.5 liters per minute. Complementing the design is a built-in heater that ensures the device starts and operates reliably at temperatures down to -40 °C. The upper limit for the ambient operating temperature is +65 °C, making the model suitable for use in challenging climatic conditions.

For long-lasting outdoor use, the Stellar 6 NAP-650 housing is made from acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA). This engineering thermoplastic is similar to ABS but is significantly better suited for outdoor applications: it does not yellow, crack, or lose strength under the effects of sunlight and precipitation, and is resistant to oils, salt solutions, acids, and alkalis. The material features high impact resistance, withstands operating temperatures up to 105 °C, does not accumulate static electricity, and does not attract dust.

Particular attention in the NAP-650 is given to the protection of electronics. The device is designed for industrial-level resistance to surge voltages—up to 6 kV, including close lightning strikes—as well as protection against electrostatic discharges up to 8 kV. The gigabit network port is shielded, and there is a grounding terminal nearby.

The hardware platform is well-known from Keenetic and Netcraze internet hubs: it features a dual-core processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz and 256 MB of RAM. The wireless part is dual-band, supporting speeds of up to 574 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band (2T×2R:2SS) and up to 2402 Mbps in the 5 GHz band with a channel width of 160 MHz and a 3T×3R:2SS scheme with an additional internal antenna. Five discrete radio amplifiers compensate for losses during duplexing on the included external dual-band antennas and provide the necessary gain when connecting directional or sectoral emitters—for building bridge lines or organizing zone coverage.

To speed up installation, the package includes mounts for wall or mast installation, as well as a passive PoE adapter at 48 V. In professional installations, the device also supports power according to the 802.3at standard (PoE+ 18 W).

The Stellar 6 NAP-650 can be used as an outdoor amplifier or access point with any routers; however, its capabilities are most fully realized in the proprietary wireless system of Netcraze or Keenetic with a mesh Wi-Fi architecture. In such a scenario, network segmentation, seamless roaming according to standards 802.11k/r/v, self-healing and adaptation of the network, as well as centralized management—configuration, monitoring, and updating of nodes through the main router-controller—are available via the Netcraze mobile app or through the Netcraze RMM cloud service.
