It seems that Nintendo has stopped a method for accessing YouTube on the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 briefly gained access to YouTube through a loophole, but Nintendo fixed it even before Google could announce any impending support.
Despite the Nintendo Switch 2's launch nearly a year ago, it still lacks any streaming applications. Although the console can dock to a TV, it does not support streaming YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, or Hulu.
In contrast, both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launched with these features on day one, leaving the Switch 2 as a barren landscape for streaming options. It's uncertain whether the responsibility lies with Nintendo or the streaming services.
Google initially stated that YouTube support would be "coming soon," but there has been no further communication. As a result, players took the initiative themselves.
So, how did YouTube make its way to the Switch 2?
A user on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit discovered an intriguing feature within the free-to-play battle royale game Super Animal Royale, which has a news feed on its title screen. By clicking on an embedded video and selecting “Watch on YouTube,” they triggered a hidden browser on the console, enabling Switch 2 owners to watch YouTube videos with some limitations.
Videos were restricted to 360p resolution, available only in full-screen, with glitchy thumbnails and no option to sign into a YouTube account. However, it was functional, and after nearly eleven months without any streaming apps, this was enough to generate excitement among users.
Did Nintendo really act faster to patch this than to release an official app?
As reported by Notebookcheck, once the workaround gained popularity, users attempting the same method encountered error code 2800-1230. It remains unclear if Nintendo implemented an update directly or contacted Super Animal Royale’s developers, but the quickness of the response was notable.
Nintendo is recognized for strictly managing its user base and promptly addressing any discovered customization loopholes. This suggests it likely acted this time as well. If only Nintendo would also prioritize bringing streaming partners on board, its users would likely be more satisfied.
With Nintendo increasing the prices of the Nintendo Switch 2 due to fluctuating RAM market conditions, the company owes its customers new features via software updates to justify the price hike, with adding streaming apps being paramount.

I despise scalpers, and Valve's reservation queue for the Steam Machine is a much-needed solution.
Valve seems to have devised an effective strategy for selling the Steam Machine.
My disdain for scalpers runs deep, especially when they target gaming hardware already in limited supply. They purchase items before regular customers and gamers have a fair chance, only to resell them at outrageous prices to those who genuinely want to use them. This issue has been recurrent, but Valve's latest initiative might be the best anti-scalper measure yet.
Recent updates to Steam's database suggest Valve may have established a reservation queue system for the upcoming Steam Machine. This finding comes from a recent update noticed by a user named Pepeizq, which revealed multiple references to Steam Machine packages within the same reservation system used for the Steam Controller.
Wordle is set to become a TV game show on NBC, and it already feels like a betrayal.
Wordle will transition into an NBC primetime game show in 2027.
Every morning, millions engage with Wordle, facing a blank grid and engaging in a solitary challenge with five letters. There’s no host narrating the process, no studio audience gasping when a guess is squandered, and no one cheering for you. It’s just you, the word, and the small thrill of solving it in three attempts or fewer.
Discord Nitro now offers Xbox Game Pass as part of its benefits.
Discord has given gamers another compelling reason to subscribe to Nitro.
Over the years, Discord and Xbox have collaborated multiple times, typically with Xbox providing Discord Nitro perks through its own subscription plans, like Game Pass Ultimate. However, in this new arrangement, Discord has flipped the script and is now offering Xbox Game Pass "Starter Edition" as a benefit for those purchasing Nitro.
The Game Pass Starter Edition is featured in Discord's new Nitro Rewards program, which also includes other appealing perks such as discount coupons for gaming peripherals and additional monthly Orbs.
