      Samsung’s stable One UI 8.5 software has started rolling out to Galaxy S25 series devices after being initially revealed with the Galaxy S26 lineup in February.

      This update introduces a range of new features, such as improved Photo Assist, smarter Quick Share, Audio Broadcast, Storage Share, and additional security tools. However, it does not include several features from the Galaxy S26 that many Galaxy S25 users were anticipating, which has understandably left many feeling disappointed.

      What features did Galaxy S25 owners actually miss?

      Posts on Samsung’s Korean community forum, along with feature lists from users who installed the stable version, highlight at least nine absent features. The most significant omissions are Now Nudge and the new 24MP camera mode. Now Nudge is a Galaxy AI feature that interprets the screen content and suggests quick actions like adding events to the calendar, sharing photos, or entering contact details. The 24MP camera mode provides a higher-resolution alternative within Samsung’s Camera Assistant app. There doesn’t seem to be any apparent hardware limitation from the Galaxy S26 that would prevent these features from being available.

      Other reported missing features include Notification Highlights, the fingerprint Improve Accuracy option, the Finder shortcut on the home screen, Samsung Browser’s Ask AI, My Files summaries, 30x-plus remastering, and Horizontal Lock in Super Steady.

      Is Samsung intentionally withholding Galaxy S26 features?

      Many users on Samsung’s Korean community forums interpret these omissions as feature gatekeeping rather than being due to hardware limitations. They argue that the Galaxy S25 series already has Snapdragon 8 Elite chips, which should be capable enough for these tools. Some users speculate that Samsung’s newer NPU hardware in the S26 lineup might explain certain limitations, but the general consensus is that Samsung is clearly drawing a software distinction between the two generations.

      While many remain hopeful that these features could be included in the forthcoming One UI 9 update, other Galaxy owners are beginning to question the implications of Samsung’s long-term update promise. The Galaxy S25 Ultra launched with a commitment to seven years of software support, but if significant new features are restricted to the latest models, users may wonder what that promise truly means. Does it entail comprehensive feature updates, or merely Android upgrades and security patches?
