      Nintendo has now announced adjusted pricing for its Switch 2 console and online gaming services across several major markets, including the United States.

      In the US, shoppers will soon face a $50 increase for the handheld console. The new pricing will take effect on September 1, 2026, in the US, Canada, and Europe (according to CNBC). If you are considering purchasing the portable gaming console, you have less than four months to buy it at the original price.

      How much will the Nintendo Switch 2 cost you?

      In the US, the price of the Switch 2 will rise from $449.99 to $499.99. In Europe, it will increase by €30 to reach €499.99, and Canadian customers will pay $679.99, up from $629.99.

      In Japan, the price hike will be implemented first, starting from May 25, 2026, with the cost changing from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980. Other products, including the OLED model, the standard Switch, and Switch Lite, will see price increases of about ¥10,000 each.

      Moreover, the Nintendo Switch Online memberships will also experience a price raise starting July 1, 2026, in Japan.

      Why did Nintendo decide to raise prices?

      “In response to market changes and after assessing the global business outlook, Nintendo will adjust the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch systems,” the company stated in an official announcement.

      “Since the effects of various market changes are anticipated to last over the medium to long term, price increases are also expected in markets outside of Japan,” the company added.

      Nintendo is not the only entity in the gaming industry feeling the impact. Companies like Asus, MSI, and Lenovo have also enacted price increases on their handheld gaming consoles in recent months.
