Perplexity’s Personal Computer can operate independently on your Mac, and it's now accessible to everyone.
This may be the nearest you can get to a personal assistant on your Mac.
Perplexity has officially released its Personal Computer app for Mac users, which could truly transform your productivity on the device.
Personal Computer is an AI agent that operates directly on your Mac. It can search through your local files, navigate native Mac apps, browse the internet, and connect with over 400 tools independently.
You assign it a task, and it starts working right away. You only need to intervene when it requires your approval, much like how Claude Cowork functions, and it can manage tasks on your computer.
What can Personal Computer do for you?
If you've ever spent an hour switching between apps, searching for a file, or manually gathering information from different sources, Perplexity’s Personal Computer is designed to alleviate that frustration. It can seamlessly operate across your local files, native Mac applications, connected tools, and the internet—all at once.
Here’s an entertaining example that Perplexity demonstrated: Open Notes, press both CMD keys, and ask it to compile your to-do list. It identifies each task and completes them. You can also request it to organize a cluttered folder and sort items into appropriately named project folders.
The best part is that you maintain control. It will check in when a decision is crucial, and every action it performs can be undone. Think of it as a capable assistant rather than an unchecked one.
What’s the best way to use Perplexity Personal Computer?
Perplexity suggests that using a desktop Mac is the optimal way to run it, and since a Mac mini has a relatively low entry cost, it’s a great choice. Operating Perplexity’s Personal Computer on a Mac mini is ideal since it can continuously work, even when you’re away from your desk.
You can initiate a task from your iPhone while the agents continue to work on your Mac at home. Additionally, you can approve requests from any device and allow it to run overnight for more complex projects.
That being said, the Mac mini is currently in limited supply, so you may need to wait or seize any available model. The new Perplexity Mac app is now accessible for all users, featuring everyday tools like search, attachments, and dictation.
Please note that it isn't available on the App Store yet, so you'll need to download it directly from Perplexity’s website.

OpenAI’s Codex has now moved into Chrome, bridging useful tasks and risks
The new extension enables Codex to go beyond coding and manage real browser tasks across logged-in sites.
OpenAI has expanded Codex's capabilities beyond the coding environment with its new Chrome extension, allowing the agent to utilize an authenticated web session. This means it can assist with work already occurring in Gmail, Salesforce, LinkedIn, dashboards, and internal applications. This transition takes Codex out of the developer sandbox and into web applications where everyday work is conducted. With Chrome access, it can assist with research, CRM updates, dashboard inspections, and browser-based debugging, addressing the bottlenecks that often occur across multiple tabs.
MacBook Neo was such a huge success for Apple that it may soon lead to higher prices
The popularity of the MacBook Neo has not only led to a supply problem for Apple but has also revealed the vulnerability of the $599 price point, which was based on a limited supply of recycled chips that would eventually run out.
The $599 MacBook Neo has been selling out incredibly fast, prompting Apple to double its production goals. At the time of this writing, the shipping timeline on the official website is two to three weeks. Semiconductor analyst Tim Culpan of Culpium suggests that Apple has instructed its manufacturing partners, Quanta and Foxconn, to increase production capacity to 10 million units, almost double the initial projection. However, ramping up production could soon result in price increases for consumers.
