A questionable leak regarding the iPhone 18 Pro reveals a smaller Face ID cutout on the display.

The rumors surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro's Dynamic Island feature are currently filled with more inconsistencies than confirmations, although the reasoning for a smaller cutout is logical. It appears that the matter will be resolved by September 2026.

The recent buzz about the iPhone 18 Pro's Dynamic Island has been sparked by new CAD renders shared by the X account @earlyappleleaks. The images reveal that the pill-shaped cutout at the top of the iPhone's screen is significantly smaller compared to that of the iPhone 17 Pro models.

However, it’s important to note that this account is relatively new and lacks a proven track record at this time. Despite this, the renders are worth discussing as they align with earlier rumors suggesting a less intrusive Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro versions.

Just how much smaller can the Dynamic Island become?

While the Dynamic Island may appear as a single pill-shaped cutout, it actually consists of two distinct sections: one for the front camera and another for the Face ID sensors.

Recent CAD renders and several leaks over the past few months indicate that Apple might relocate the Face ID flood illuminator beneath the display glass, which would reduce the size of the larger screen cutout.

Both the infrared and front-facing cameras would still be visible, leading to a new, reduced cutout size. Based on measurements from a previous leak, eliminating the flood illuminator could result in a cutout size that is 25% to 35% smaller than that of the iPhone 17 Pro.

This change would be most noticeable on the 6.3-inch iPhone 18 Pro.

Regarding trust in this leak, while the renders appear promising, notable tipster Digital Chat Station reported in March that the smaller Dynamic Island feature had been delayed until the iPhone 19 lineup, specifically the iPhone 19 Pro model (as per Apple Insider).

A number of leakers have previously supported the idea of a smaller Dynamic Island for the iPhone 18 Pro but had similar expectations for the iPhone 17 Pro last year.

As of now, sources remain split on whether the iPhone 18 Pro will come with a smaller Dynamic Island or retain the standard design. Nonetheless, I believe that decreasing its size will bring Apple significantly closer to achieving its vision for an “all-screen” iPhone 20 model anticipated for 2027.

Fitbit is evolving into Google Health, bringing a variety of wellness enhancements.

Google is finally positioning health tracking as a strategic platform, integrating medical records, third-party fitness data, and AI coaching, something that the Fitbit app was not designed to accommodate.

On May 19, 2026, Google will officially discontinue the Fitbit app and introduce the new Google Health app. This is rather ironic, given that the company has just launched a new Fitbit Air screenless fitness tracker, but the transition will occur through an OTA update. This change follows Fitbit’s fifteen-year tenure, during which it attracted millions of fitness enthusiasts, offering an array of health trackers and valuable insights through its software.

Google’s Fitbit Air is a $99 screenless competitor to Whoop, and its primary features do not require a subscription.

The standout advantage of Fitbit Air is that Google has decoupled the hardware cost from subscriptions entirely, giving users a choice that Whoop has not offered.

Google has taken significant steps into the fitness tracker market by officially unveiling the Fitbit Air, a $99.99 screenless health band. Unlike Whoop, which restricts access to fitness data behind a paywall, Fitbit Air’s essential health-tracking functions will remain free.

Currently available for pre-order, the device will begin shipping to 21 countries on May 26, 2026. It can be purchased in four Pixel-inspired colors: Obsidian, Lavender, Fog, and Berry, with options for three different strap styles: Performance Loop, Active Band, and Elevated Modern Band.

The head of Android has dismissed rumors of a Liquid Glass imitation for Pixels, which is reassuring.

While numerous Android manufacturers have begun to emulate the aesthetic of iOS 16, Google maintains that Pixels will stick to their original design.

In response to a mockup of Liquid Glass demonstrated on a Pixel 11 shared on X, Sameer Samat, Google's president of the Android Ecosystem, stated, “Not happening. Y'all are wild.” This statement is welcomed by Android enthusiasts who have witnessed a trend of manufacturers copying Apple's design language over the past year, with several Android brands already taking the bait.
