The upcoming Steam Controller has just experienced a price leak, and wow!
The price of the Steam Controller may have been inadvertently revealed in a video that has since been removed.
Valve’s Steam Machine and its next-generation controller are highly awaited. However, it appears that the pricing for the upcoming Steam Controller was disclosed prematurely after a YouTuber inadvertently violated the embargo by posting an early review video.
The video was uploaded to YouTube but was quickly deleted; nonetheless, a reupload is now spreading on Streamable, indicating a price of $99.99 for the controller. This is the same controller that Valve first showcased alongside its Steam Machine in November 2025, as part of its initiative to promote PC gaming in living rooms.
If the $100 price tag is true, the new Steam Controller will be priced higher than the average console gamepads. Controllers such as Sony’s DualSense and Microsoft’s Xbox Wireless Controller are typically less expensive, while premium models like the DualSense Edge and Xbox Elite Series 2 are priced much higher. This positions Valve’s controller in a unique and somewhat challenging middle ground.
Responses on social media platforms like Reddit have been varied. Some users are already labeling the leaked $100 price as excessive, particularly since Xbox and PlayStation controllers are available for less. Others seem more inclined to pay that amount if the trackpads, gyro, and Steam Input support function effectively, providing benefits beyond typical console gaming.
The unique design of the Steam Controller explains its potential higher cost compared to standard controllers. The next-gen Steam Controller is anticipated to revive Valve’s PC-focused strategy, featuring dual trackpads, gyro controls, TMR thumbsticks, four rear buttons, and a wireless dongle that doubles as a magnetic charging puck. It essentially incorporates everything listeners desired from the original Steam Controller. The sticks are improved, more buttons are added, and the whole setup appears more user-friendly for playing PC games on a TV.
The primary concern is whether Valve can make this controller a necessity for Steam users rather than just another pricey accessory. The initial Steam Controller was unconventional, ambitious, and polarizing. This new version appears to be taking a similar route, but with more robust features and, seemingly, a significantly more confident price point.
Furthermore, another leak about the Steam Controller has surfaced, suggesting a forthcoming launch for Valve's next-gen hardware. A recent report noted by Notebookcheck points to an early review by the Japanese outlet 4Gamer, which was swiftly removed but not before being indexed. Translated excerpts indicate that the next-generation Steam Controller may debut in Japan as early as next week. Although the official launch date has not been confirmed, it aligns with a growing number of recent leaks.
