Your disorganized Spotify library finally has a solution, and it only took 16 years!

If you've ever found yourself looking at a messy array of Spotify playlists on your phone and wished for a way to organize them into folders, we have great news. Spotify is finally introducing playlist folders to its iOS and Android applications.

Playlist folders have been a feature of Spotify's desktop app since 2010, meaning mobile users have waited 16 years for this. A Reddit user was the first to notice that the feature had been activated on iOS, and others in the same thread confirmed it was also available on Android.

How do Spotify playlist folders function on mobile?

To begin, tap the “+” icon in your Library, and you'll now see a new Folder option in the menu. Here, you can name your folder and start adding playlists to it.

This feature also allows you to play all the contents of a folder at once, either sequentially or on shuffle. This functionality is particularly useful for long commutes or gym workouts when you want some variety without switching between playlists manually.

The timing of this rollout is fitting, especially since Spotify has been promoting its Prompted playlists recently. These playlists tend to accumulate quickly and clutter your library. Folders provide a tidy way to manage everything without needing to use the desktop app.

Are there any restrictions on Spotify’s mobile playlist folders?

We haven't yet seen the feature in our Spotify apps. Based on discussions on Reddit, playlists can be moved into folders, but not entire albums. Custom folder cover art is also not supported at this time. Additionally, since this is a server-side rollout, not everyone will have access to the option simultaneously. If you haven't seen it yet, patience is currently the only solution.

For those seeking more control over their music flow, Spotify also offers a feature to automatically reorder playlists for smoother transitions, simplifying playlist management on the platform.

Oppo is creating camera phones as if the smartphone race never ended

The flagship smartphone competition has become somewhat reserved, particularly regarding mobile photography. There was a time when discussions centered around megapixel counts, sensor numbers, and extreme zoom capabilities. However, that excitement has subsided in recent years.

Leading brands no longer seem to aim for shocking the market. Companies like Apple and Samsung are now more focused on enhancing image processing and refining their formulas instead of pushing camera technology to extreme limits.

Despite rumors of budget cuts, Apple may still deliver an impressive performance boost with the iPhone 18

The performance disparity between Apple's standard and Pro iPhones is likely to lessen significantly by 2026, which is excellent news for many consumers.

Apple enjoys keeping critics and reviewers guessing. While whispers of cost-reducing measures for the iPhone 18 lineup have circulated, recent insights from Taiwan’s supply chain (via Commercial Times) indicate that the company is working on one of its most hardware-focused upgrades in years.

At the heart of the rumored iPhone 18 lineup is TSMC’s 2nm A20 chip, anticipated to mark a generational improvement over the 3nm A19 series chips found in the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models.

I just switched to my first significant foldable device, and I finally understand the appeal

I had dismissed foldable phones due to frustrating experiences with flip phones, but having a larger screen changed everything.

For a long time, I viewed foldable phones as a solution looking for a problem. They're pricey, delicate, and often seem to be trying too hard to prove their worth. While I admire the engineering involved, I could never see how they would enhance my daily life. A traditional flat phone always felt more sensible to me—simpler, less expensive, and adequate for nearly everything. I was never particularly excited about foldables.
