YouTube TV now allows you to design the multiview layout you've always wanted.
YouTube TV subscribers have noticed a significant upgrade to the Multiview feature.
YouTube's Multiview functionality enables users to watch up to four live streams on a single screen simultaneously. Previously, users were restricted to preselected channel combinations that mainly revolved around live sports, but that is about to change.
The platform recently utilized Multiview to broadcast Coachella, allowing viewers to watch multiple stages concurrently. Now, Reddit users have observed that the same Multiview feature is receiving a significant enhancement in YouTube TV, which appears to be a game-changer.
What’s new with the YouTube TV Multiview upgrade?
Reddit users were the first to spot the modification, sharing screenshots of an updated Multiview selection menu that grants access to the entire YouTube TV channel library. Users are no longer confined to the combinations that YouTube had previously chosen for them.
The revamped interface enables users to browse channels by category, including Recommended, Sports, News, TV Shows, and Movies, and to add any live channel to their grid. Up to four streams can be displayed simultaneously on a single screen.
This feature operates within the YouTube TV app on streaming devices such as Roku, Google TV, and Apple TV, and functions best on larger displays where there is adequate room for the four streams.
How to use the new Multiview on YouTube TV
As reported by 9to5Google, users can initiate a live stream within the YouTube TV app by pressing the down arrow on their remote. On mobile devices, this can be accomplished by tapping the video player. A menu will appear with an “Add to multiview” option, which will open the new selection interface.
YouTube confirmed this upgrade was anticipated back in January 2026; however, it is being rolled out in stages, so not all subscribers will see it immediately. Additionally, the platform is also introducing AI detection technology to combat celebrity deepfakes and has quietly increased the price of YouTube Premium.
