Samsung's upcoming Galaxy earbuds might feature an unexpected earclip design.

Samsung’s upcoming audio device may clip onto your ear. A new icon found by SammyGuru within One UI firmware has revealed a product named Galaxy Buds Able.

Interestingly, these earbuds appear quite different from any Galaxy Buds we've seen previously.

The Galaxy Buds Able are depicted in the leaked icon as clip-style earbuds that rest on the outer ear, directing sound toward the ear canal without blocking out ambient noise. This design falls into the open-ear category, which has gained popularity among brands like Bose and Anker.

The Galaxy Buds Able carry an SM-U series model number, in contrast to the current SM-R identifiers, suggesting that this could signify an entirely new product line for Samsung.

Tipster Ice Universe had earlier indicated that the company was developing bone conduction headphones under the “Able” codename, with early information from Korea signaling a potential launch in late 2025, though that did not materialize.

The new icon implies that Samsung may have shifted away from conventional open-ear technology instead. While bone conduction is still a possibility, it may not be included in their imminent releases.

Open-ear audio appeals to casual users, allowing them to remain aware of their surroundings while enjoying music, podcasts, or scrolling through social media. This makes the earbuds perfect for commutes, workouts, or extended work periods.

Samsung might be gearing up to launch these earbuds alongside its next-generation foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8. The recognition of open-ear audio by Samsung signals that it has become a mainstream trend rather than a niche market.

The demand for open-ear earbuds is driven by factors such as safety, comfort, and all-day wearability, all encapsulated in a compact, portable, and reliable wireless audio device, an area where Samsung has considerable expertise.

In terms of design, smart rings incorporate innovative technology that tracks various metrics like daily activity and sleep cycles while providing subtlety. However, I have often found the design lacking, particularly with the Oura Ring 4. While it performs well, its aesthetic feels somewhat plain and slightly bulky for an accessory intended for daily wear. In an era where personal style plays a vital role in self-presentation, wearing a thick, minimalist ring can seem somewhat out of sync.

However, a novel approach has emerged that reimagines the design and sensation of smart rings, allowing them to integrate more seamlessly with everyday fashion.
