Sony unveils the INZONE H6 Air open-back gaming headset along with new purple earbuds.
The INZONE H6 Air represents a significant change for Sony's gaming audio approach, shifting from a focus on esports to a narrative-driven experience, demonstrating that exceptional gaming sound does not necessarily need to be linked to competitive rankings.
Sony has discreetly grown its INZONE gaming range, this time aiming at gamers who enjoy story-rich experiences rather than viewing every game as a competition. On April 14, 2026, Sony Electronics unveiled the INZONE H6 Air, a wired open-back gaming headset, alongside a new Glass Purple version of the INZONE Buds.
In contrast to the prevalent closed-back headphones in the gaming world, the H6 Air adopts a different design. Its open-back configuration is tailored for gamers who favor immersive narrative games such as The Witcher or Horizon Zero Dawn.
What distinguishes the INZONE H6 Air?
Typically, open-back headphones are more suitable for story-oriented games because they provide a broader, more natural soundstage. These attributes create the sensation that audio is emanating from around you instead of being confined to your head.
The headset uses the same 40mm drivers found in Sony’s MDR-MV1 studio monitor headphones, crafted to offer expansive spatial depth and managed bass. Weighing only 199 grams (not including the detachable microphone and cable), it is Sony’s lightest gaming headphone to date.
The design incorporates a similar spring-hinge headband as the INZONE H9 II for prolonged comfort, and a cardioid boom microphone is positioned toward the user's mouth for clear voice capture. When connected via the included USB-C audio box, the headphones access a new RPG/Adventure equalizer preset, created in partnership with PlayStation Studios.
The INZONE H6 Air headphones are priced at $199.99 and are available for purchase now on Amazon and Best Buy.
What else did Sony reveal alongside the headset?
The INZONE Buds received a new color option: a transparent "Glass Purple," adding to the existing black and white versions. While the earbuds are not fully transparent, they feature a see-through design complemented by a rich purple tint and the brand’s name on top.
These earbuds retail for $239.99 and are also available on Amazon and Best Buy.

Sony's INZONE M10S II combines cutting-edge OLED technology with an impressive 720Hz mode, providing competitive gamers with a display that matches their speed. Although Sony entered the fast-paced gaming monitor market a bit late, it has the potential to attract considerable attention. On April 14, the company introduced the INZONE M10S II, a 27-inch QHD OLED gaming monitor that utilizes a tandem OLED panel from LG.
Like other high-speed gaming monitors, the Sony monitor operates in two configurations: 540Hz at QHD and an astonishing 720Hz at HD. This monitor, developed in collaboration with esports giant Fnatic, is an updated version of the M10S.
Recently, TCL revealed plans for their upcoming gaming monitor that could achieve an incredible 640Hz refresh rate.
TCL CSOT's forthcoming 640Hz dual-mode panel could dramatically alter the esports monitor market when it launches in Q3 2026, exceeding the 600Hz benchmark.
The gaming monitor industry continues to push boundaries, and the recent leak regarding TCL CSOT exemplifies this trend. A report from Visuntang, a channel information platform (via IT Home’s April 13, 2026 report), indicates that the Chinese display maker is developing a gaming monitor capable of alternating between 160Hz at higher resolutions and 640Hz at lower resolutions.
