Sony introduces the INZONE H6 Air open-back gaming headset and purple earbuds.

The INZONE H6 Air signifies a significant change in Sony's gaming audio direction, shifting from a focus on esports to a narrative-driven experience, demonstrating that exceptional gaming audio doesn't always hinge on competitive play.

Sony has discreetly broadened its INZONE gaming range, and this time, it's not solely for gamers who view every session as a tournament. On April 14, 2026, Sony Electronics unveiled the INZONE H6 Air, a wired open-back gaming headset, along with a Glass Purple version of the INZONE Buds.

In contrast to the closed-back headphones that currently dominate the gaming segment, the H6 Air adopts a unique perspective. Its open-back design targets players who enjoy immersive story-driven games, such as The Witcher or Horizon Zero Dawn.

What distinguishes the INZONE H6 Air?

Broadly speaking, open-back headphones are more suitable for narrative-focused games, mainly because they offer a broader, more natural soundstage. These characteristics create an audio experience that feels like it's emanating from the environment rather than being contained within the head.

The headphones utilize the same 40mm drivers found in Sony’s MDR-MV1 studio monitor headphones, aimed at providing expansive spatial depth and well-managed bass. Weighing merely 199 grams (not including the detachable microphone and cable), this is Sony’s lightest gaming headphone to date.

It also incorporates a spring-hinge headband design similar to the INZONE H9 II for enhanced comfort. The headphones are equipped with a cardioid boom mic directed at the user’s mouth for clear voice capture. Connecting them through the USB-C audio box (included in the package) activates a new RPG/Adventure equalizer preset, crafted in partnership with PlayStation Studios.

The INZONE H6 Air headphones retail for $199.99 and are currently available for purchase on Amazon and Best Buy.

What else did Sony announce alongside the headset?

The INZONE Buds are introduced in a new "Glass Purple" color variant, adding to the existing black and white choices. While the earbuds don't feature a fully transparent design, they have a translucent exterior with a rich purple tone and the brand's logo at the top.

These earbuds are priced at $239.99 and can also be found on Amazon and Best Buy.

Sony's INZONE M10S II combines cutting-edge OLED technology with an impressive 720Hz mode, offering competitive gamers a display that matches their speed.

Sony has entered the ultra-fast gaming monitor arena, albeit slightly late, but it could attract significant attention. On April 14, the company introduced the INZONE M10S II, a 27-inch QHD OLED gaming monitor featuring a tandem OLED panel from LG. Like other rapid gaming monitors, the Sony display operates in two modes: 540Hz in QHD and a remarkable 720Hz in HD. This monitor, developed in conjunction with esports giant Fnatic, follows the M10S.
