Tired of dull email apps? Avec transforms your inbox into an enjoyable and effortless experience.

This email application aims to be the Tinder for your inbox, and honestly, it somewhat is.

Email applications have been trying for years to make managing inboxes feel quicker, smarter, and less tedious. However, Avec appears to have realized that the real solution was straightforward: make emails behave like a dating app.

Avec is a new mobile email application that displays your inbox as a set of swipeable cards rather than the conventional list view. While this may seem like a significant shift, the functionality is quite simple. You can swipe left to postpone an email, swipe right to complete or archive it, and swipe down to categorize less important messages into an "unimportant" group that the app can later consolidate for easier organization.

Why is this solution particularly intriguing?

The card-based interface is the highlight, and indeed, the comparison to Tinder is doing much of the promotional work. Avec aims to alleviate inbox fatigue on mobile devices, where email often feels cramped, monotonous, and easy to overlook. The app also features a traditional list-based inbox for users who prefer to gradually transition to the swipe-card approach.

However, this design alone could have simply made Avec another unconventional email client. It also incorporates voice inputs and AI.

What role does AI play in this?

Avec allows users to press a button to dictate email replies using their voice. Once you stop speaking, the app converts that recording into a draft for you to review, modify, and send. According to founder Jonathan Unikowski, this feature provides Avec with an advantage over standalone keyboard-based dictation tools, as the app is aware of the entire email context and can better understand names, matching tone and writing styles.

      But there's a drawback.

Currently, Avec is only available in the US and is exclusive to the iPhone. It is free for Gmail users, with Outlook support reportedly in development, and the company indicates that paid tiers will be introduced later. However, the specifics of these premium features have yet to be determined.

A recent report from WIRED highlighted experiences with Muse Spark, indicating that Meta's health-focused AI model within the Meta AI app did not exhibit encouraging outcomes.
