Instagram now allows you to edit those awkward comments, but there’s a catch.
Instagram comment editing has arrived, but you’re limited to 15 minutes and several other restrictions to be aware of.
Anyone who has ever noticed a mistake in an Instagram comment and felt awkward about it understands the significance of this update. Instagram has enabled users to edit their comments after posting, a long-requested feature.

How does the editing feature for Instagram comments function?
Instagram
The rules are straightforward but important to know before you think you have all day. After posting a comment, you have a 15-minute period during which you can return and edit. Within this timeframe, you can modify your comment as many times as you wish.
Once the 15 minutes have elapsed, the editing option completely disappears. This time limit is intentional, providing users with enough breathing room to correct minor errors without permitting substantial alterations to discussions afterward.
Are there additional limitations?
A few other constraints should be noted. Only text within the comment can be edited. If your Instagram comment contains an image along with your text, you can adjust the text, but not the image itself.
In terms of visibility, anyone who sees your comment will be aware that it has been edited, but they won't have access to the original version. This approach differs from Facebook, which often allows users to view the complete edit history.
Instagram has also implemented measures to tackle inappropriate comments. Last year, Instagram's Chief Adam Mosseri mentioned that the platform is experimenting with a dislike button for comments, although it’s not yet available for all users. With the high number of harmful comments on the site, a broader rollout could lead to meaningful improvements.
For now, I’m just thankful that I won’t have to delete a comment entirely to correct a minor error or endure a typo indefinitely.
