Trent AI secures $13 million to develop multi-agent security solutions.

The London startup made its debut on 7 April with a multi-layered agentic security solution and a seed funding round supported by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital. Among its co-founders is a Cambridge professor who previously held the position of director of machine learning at Amazon.

Trent AI, a London-based company focused on agentic security, has successfully raised $13 million in seed funding and has come out of stealth mode. The funding round was led by LocalGlobe and Cambridge Innovation Capital, with contributions from angel investors like Joaquin Quiñonero Candela, a technical staff member at OpenAI; Avinash Bhat, a Director at AWS; Ippokratis Pandis, a Distinguished Engineer at Databricks; and Tony Jebara, former Vice President of Engineering and Head of AI/ML at Spotify. The company was established in 2025 and is set to publicly launch on 7 April 2026.

Trent AI aims to address a significant structural gap that has emerged as enterprises accelerate the deployment of autonomous AI agents without corresponding adaptations in their security frameworks. The company's offering is a multi-agent security platform specifically designed for agentic environments, in contrast to standard static-rules security tools that have been retrofitted for AI.

The platform operates through four distinct types of specialized agents that run concurrently: Scan agents that monitor code, infrastructure, dependencies, and runtime behavior to identify risks; Judge agents that assess and prioritize signals based on actual business impact instead of predefined criteria; Mitigate agents that automatically patch vulnerabilities and validate repairs; and Evaluate agents that track risk trends over time and measure against standards. The interaction among these layers is intended to enhance the accuracy of each subsequent cycle.

The founding team is strategically composed to combine academic expertise with operational capability. CEO Eno Thereska has previously worked as a Distinguished Engineer at Alcion (acquired by Veeam), AWS, and Confluent. Co-founder Neil Lawrence is the DeepMind Professor of Machine Learning at the University of Cambridge and has served as Director of Machine Learning at Amazon. The third co-founder, Zhenwen Dai, was a machine learning scientist at AWS and Senior Research Manager at Spotify. A Deloitte survey referenced by Trent AI indicated that while 74% of organizations aim to implement agentic AI within the next two years, only 21% have a mature governance model for autonomous agents—a gap that the company is specifically designed to fill.

Design partners such as Canopy, Commscentre, ML@Cam, Qbeast, and Weblogic are already utilizing the platform. Trent AI is a partner member of OWASP, the Open Worldwide Application Security Project, and a startup partner with Carnegie Mellon University’s CyLab Venture Network. The product also features an open-source security agent for OpenClaw. Saul Klein, co-founder and executive chairman of Phoenix Court, home to LocalGlobe, emphasized that this is “the right time to build the long-term foundations of security for agentic systems.”
