      If you frequently use Gemini, you probably have numerous chats scattered across the sidebar, ranging from work-related research to planning weekend getaways. Locating an old chat can often feel like finding a needle in a haystack.

      For this reason, Google is currently experimenting with a new feature in Gemini called Projects, which enables users to organize their chats into specific folders, similar to the folder system used by ChatGPT. This feature has begun to surface for a select group of users, although it is not fully operational at this stage.

      How does Gemini’s Projects feature function?

      A Reddit user (@medazizln) was among the first to notice the feature and shared a screenshot showcasing the “Add to project” option in the Gemini chat menu.

      When you hover over any chat within Gemini’s web interface, a three-dot menu button becomes visible. Clicking this button reveals a set of familiar options, such as Share Conversation, Pin, Rename, and Delete.

      The new option, “Add to project,” is listed alongside these. Selecting this option opens a pop-up where you can choose from your existing projects to assign the chat. However, the feature currently lacks an option for creating a new project from within this pop-up, indicating that it is still in development.

      TestingCatalog News also published screenshots confirming the feature is appearing in menus, suggesting that it may be “an unintended appearance” rather than a planned rollout.

      When can everyone expect to see Gemini’s Projects feature?

      Google has yet to provide an official timeline for the broader rollout of Projects. However, the fact that it is already visible to a select number of users indicates a promising sign that a wider release could be imminent. Once it officially launches, chat Projects will significantly enhance Gemini’s usability for those managing multiple ongoing tasks and conversations.
