A recent leak from tipster Jaykihn (via wccftech.com) suggests that Intel’s upcoming Serpent Lake chipset could revolutionize the capabilities of laptop processors by integrating Nvidia’s RTX-class graphics directly onto the chip.

      Serpent Lake is believed to be Intel’s hybrid chip that may merge the Tital Lake CPU architecture with Nvidia’s RTX Rubin graphics chiplets, utilizing TSMC’s 3nm fabrication technology.

      So, what precisely is Intel’s Serpent Lake chip?

      On the CPU front, the design reportedly includes eight performance and sixteen efficiency cores, derived from Intel’s Griffin Cove and Golden Eagle architectures. However, for the GPU section, the company might replace its own Arc graphics with RTX technology.

      This decision does not indicate that Intel is entirely abandoning its Arc graphics; rather, it is a choice specific to this product that could help differentiate the Serpent Lake chip. The memory setup also appears ambitious, with the chip potentially supporting 15 channels of LPDDR6 memory to enhance bandwidth limitations.

      Furthermore, the leak confirms the name of Intel’s next-generation P-core architecture: Copper Shark.

      To contextualize this, RTX graphics have historically existed on separate, power-intensive graphics cards that are bulky and costly.

      The integrated GPU could significantly benefit Intel.

      By directly incorporating it onto the CPU's die, this could enable quicker communication between these key components, reduce power consumption, and importantly, deliver desktop-class GPU performance from a lightweight system-on-chip that operates efficiently in laptops.

      However, it’s worth noting that Serpent Lake will not be available right away. Intel's roadmap includes several chip iterations before it, starting with Nova Lake in 2026, followed by Razer Lake and Titan Lake, before Serpent Lake is expected to launch in 2028-2029.

      By that time, the GPU tile might be based on Nvidia's Rubin or Rubin-Next architecture, marking it as the first RTX-class GPU to be included in a non-Nvidia chip. It remains unclear whether the inclusion of Nvidia’s GPU tile in Intel's Serpent Lake chip will lead to a price increase.
