New icons specify allergy triggers, enabling quicker responses.

Samsung’s latest Weather update emphasizes pollen, a major concern with allergy season increasing. The app now displays what pollutants are present in the air, allowing you to take action before symptoms arise.
The update to version 1.7.30.8 alters the presentation of this information. Rather than a single broad icon, there are now distinct categories for tree, grass, and ragweed pollen, simplifying the process of understanding the conditions without needing to look further.
For those who suffer from seasonal allergies, knowing the type of trigger is just as crucial as its severity, and this information is now prominently featured.
Samsung has also revamped how the intensity of pollen is shown, replacing the color scale with text labels for easier readability. Although some users may prefer the previous color indicators for their precision, the new format allows for quicker comprehension.
Enhanced pollen information overview
The most significant change is in how daily readings are presented. Rather than a single icon, the app now categorizes the conditions into tree, grass, and ragweed, providing a clearer insight into what might provoke symptoms.
This added granularity is beneficial for day-to-day decisions. Since tree and grass pollen peak at different times, having this information separated allows for better planning. If ragweed levels are high while grass is low, you will be aware of what is likely to provoke a reaction.
Additional updates beyond pollen changes
This version also introduces several smaller improvements throughout the app. Moon phase icons have been updated, resulting in a neater and more consistent appearance for nighttime forecasts.
Radar also receives a useful adjustment, with new shortcuts leading to more detailed forecasting resources. This provides quicker access when more information is needed beyond the basic overview.
These updates do not completely redesign the app, but they collectively enhance its polish. Samsung is focusing on gradual improvements that provide added value without requiring users to relearn the interface.
Who gets it and when
Version 1.7.30.8 is currently rolling out, but its availability is staggered. It is presently compatible with devices using One UI 8.5, meaning not all users will receive it immediately.
Pollen tracking itself isn’t new. Previous versions like One UI 8.0 still support it, although without the new visual design, so only those lacking the update are missing out on the redesign.
The rollout could take several weeks to reach all devices via the Galaxy Store. If you rely on this app daily, it's advisable to check for updates soon, especially as allergy season escalates.
